Getting my studio set up for fall workshops. Looking so forward to sharing my techniques. One of the best things about doing workshops is seeing each persons unique take on the project.
I still have 3 spaces open for the Sept. 16th and one space open for the Oct. 14 roller printing / metal embossing workshops.

It’s back to school time and I thought I’d like to get in on the action too so…I am planning some metalworking workshops in my Greenville studio for Saturdays this fall. The first sessions will focus on metal embossing. The process is simple but the results are exciting. We will use basic hand tools and a rolling mill to create texture on pewter. Each person will produce 2-3 finished pieces of jewelry to wear or give as gifts during a two hour session.

Workshop details:

$30 per 2hr session materials included.
(Additional materials will be available for purchase)

Class size is limited to 4 people per session, ages 16+
Have a larger group? I can bring this workshop to you for an additional fee.

Week day workshops are possible if Saturday does not work for you.

One of my favorite pastimes … beach combing at the ocean or Lake. This week I’m getting the urge to get to the waters edge and start finding treasures. In the mean time I created these “beach pebble” charms. Using various textures on pewter and framed with a copper or pewter edge, these little nuggets can slide onto any chain, cord, bead strand, leather, or key ring. They can be worn as singles or assemble a group onto one necklace or bracelet. No two are alike … just like the ones you find on the beach.

You may have wondered how I get the textures on my jewelry pieces. Here is an example using pine cone fiber. I discovered the rich texture while walking in the park and observing the cones on the road that had been crushed by passing cars.
This is how they look once I’ve collected them, rinsed and dried them, and rolled them through the rolling mill.
I love this process! There is an element of unpredictability that keeps the process and the imprint, for that matter, fresh and exciting.
