So, I fell deeper in love with nature about 5 years ago, particularly the sunsets! Gosh, evenings were my best time of the day and I took so many beautiful sunset pictures....

I guess the brightness of the sun's golden colour as it stood out amongst the clouds was what got me hooked. Either way, I fell in love with the colour gold and it has been one of my favorite colours ever since!

And when it was time to pick out our brand colours, I couldn't resist going for gold 😂, because what better way to enjoy the uniqueness that comes with the colour that making it a part of a brand that treats you just like royalty!

When it comes to royalty, two colours top the chart, you guessed right abi? Gold and ..... Purple! And trust us when we say that we had you in mind when we chose the colours for our new logo.

This baking sontin is not for me abeg. I'm opting for an early retirement from ze business😭. I'm sorry if this disappoints you but the wahala is just too much for me!

I'm too in love with what I do to drop it just 'laidat'.

And this is one thing I have learned in the short time I've enjoyed as a baker.

Giving up is not an option until you're done.

I mean, you cannot take up an order and just because you get stuck, throw in the towel. No! Except you're ready to, not just lose clients, but your integrity as a business owner.

There's a very critical life lesson here. The moment you accepted to show up, expectations arose! And you have to deliver! It doesn't matter how stuck you get. Seek help if you need to, but deliver you must!

I mean how would you feel if your baker calls to say "er, we're sorry ma'am, we tried all we could but the design you chose was too complex for us. So, at this juncture, we'll have to cancel your order"

Ha! You'll probably come on IG, tag the baker and rubbish their past, present and future😂. Maybe even do worse!

But isn't that what we tend to do when we're faced with trying moments? We push a little and give up, we can't persist because we believe we don't have the strength to.

I don't know what web you've been caught up in, maybe the challenges you've faced feel like you're up against a brick wall. Whatever it is ehn, you can't give up. You've gone too far. You've invested too much. Take a break if you have to, seek help, refresh and dive back in, straight for the win! (Feel my rhymes! 😂)

The Coconuthead Baker

I have had to control myself when it comes to experimenting with customer's cakes but sometimes, my big head no dey too hear word😂.

I remember moving to my new location, last year February, and my neighbors finding out that "Aunty Seyi can do cake"😂.

So, one day, my neighbor's teenage daughter walks up to me and says she wants a cake and all she had was N3,000 🤧. I didn't have the heart to refuse her so I obliged.

We chose the design you see up there and I got to work. I had just recently watched one of mama's videos on Youtube on colouring fondant by painting instead of kneading the color in. Considering that I had a lot on my hands at that time, and the method seemed easy and quick, I decided to try it out on this cake.

While I was at it, it wasn't seeming to make any sense! The painting wasn't coming out smoothly and my oga who happened to be around that day had to ask "Oluwaseyi, hope you know what you're doing?😂😂

I almost cried mehn! I sha used bold face to finish the painting and every other thing while remembering my father's words "every mistake in art is a design" 😂. This was my consolation sha, and I ended up liking this one.

But after that, I made up my mind to at least try every new design on a dummy first.

And anytime that voice from the devil tries to whisper in my ears while working "shey you remember that other design you saw on YouTube, try it na".... Tah! Ah bind you in de name of Jesus! 😂😂

How was church service today?

I barely remember or even like to take pictures on Sunday so this one was pre-Sunday pictures with my sister taken on Friday😁.

Today was Youth Sunday in church and I learned that one responsibility I must take seriously as a child of God is consciously showing love to other people. It is even more expedient now that times are 'hard' and people are struggling to get by.

I must be able to remind them that God's promises still stand, regardless of the situation.

I'm not a troublemaker o! But you see, sometimes ehn....😂😂.

One interest I seem to have picked lately is designing my cake toppers rather than buying them.

So, when my client requested for a proposal cake, I asked if he wanted any inscription or pictures on it. His words were "write 'you will marry me'". According to him, it was an inside joke between him and his babe.

Then, being the good baker-girl that I am, I asked if I could play around with their cake😅. Oga said yes😂!

The young man is a good friend of mine so I decided to throw him off balance and added "yunno?" to the inscription he wanted😂.

Everybody that saw this cake found it quite hilarious😂.
Again, I'm not a troublemaker, puhlease!😊 Plus, it helped add extra spice to the proposal so I did well, clap for me joor😁.

The last quarter of 2021 had me anchoring a few events and all of those moments were challenges I took up with palpable excitement.

At some point this year, I was thinking "wo, let's focus and leave event hosting alone for now jare", beht no, the Spirit of the Lord would not permit me to allow whatever He has put in me to lie dormant anymore😅.

Allow yourself enjoy life.
As you commute to work, consciously notice the beautiful things around you that you have always been too busy to observe. Take random breaks. Then get back to work and grind even harder.

Trying New Things

Over the last 2-3 years, I moved from running away from challenges to looking for challenges to face😅. So, when I got this particular order, and my client told me what they wanted inscribed on the topper, I said "gurl, you gon do this!"💪🏾

So, I designed it on my laptop, easy peasy, and got the materials I needed and set to work. That was when I knew that nobody sent me message😂.

See ehn, I was sick that period and still had to attend classes (I'm saving this gist for very soon), but I refused to give myself brain. Lol.

Anyway, my first attempt was okay, BUT! The card I bought was too light to hold up (as I was sick, everything I was doing was in a haze), and the design was going to be too small for the cake, so I had to discard it 😭 and.... No, I didn't order for it, I went back with my coconut head to my design, enlarged it, went back to get a thicker card, printed again and then got back to work😣.

Okay, the tori don dey plenty🙃. Anyway, it took me a few hours to get this done, being my first time, but I'm glad I did😇.

When I love something, I hate doing _rush rush_ work with it. If I don't really care about it, then we can gloss over 😌, but you see baking and decorating, no, my dear, lerrus take our time and give this darling all the tender, loving care that we can give😂.

But since I resumed classes and have had to combine with running my business and managing , I have find myself doing plenty _rush rush_ and it pains me 🤕. I'm trusting God that this year, I would be able to manage my time and balance things better, because this business, we're not stopping it,💪🏾 and the people say?

Anyway, all this story is to say that because I was rushing, I forgot to snap this cake before crumbcoating😭. And, "oh God, gimme more sense this year in Jesus name 😔", because the few seconds I used to admire the beauri could have been used to take pictures! It is well sha.

We had a Vanilla, Red Velvet and Chocolate combo on this one and the cakes were SUPERMOIST!! I had to be begging them not to break, e joor, ayaf chop the money they used to pay for you🤣.

We're officially resuming on the 10th of January, beht your orders can start rolling in o! Let dem rooooolllll🤣🤣!

While some people are wearing fine fine new thanksgiving clothes to church, some of us are on our beds thanking God for live streaming😂😂.

Long Time No Nothing!!

When I started Nogahh Creations in 2019, I had no idea what I was doing. All I knew was that I wanted to spend time doing what I loved - baking - and making people happy while doing it.
From that time till now, it has been a rollercoaster ride of high and low moments, of seasons of consistency and inconsistency.

However, through it all I'm grateful that I had you walk through 2021 with Nogahh Creations, supporting us with your patronage and referrals.

Our highlight of 2021 was when we got registered!! Yes!! Nogahh Creations is now registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. Hooge, yeah?!

I really am excited about 2022 because we would be relaunching Nogahh Pillow Cakes within the first quarter of the year and this time we're doing it better!

We just might start a NogahhDiary too! I'll keep you posted about that.

5. I hate social media! Don't get me wrong, I love you guys, but arggh! I hate having to go on WhatsApp and respond to messages. So, you know what I do? Sometimes I deliberately go online only at midnight, that way, I leave my responses and you meet them when you come online in the morning! No pressure to chat! Sometimes, I wish I was born in the days of posts and letters. I know it doesn't make sense, beht irris wariris!😂

6. I hate onions! I have managed to train myself to learn how to tolerate this 😒, but I do not think that I would ever be able to eat onions in noodles, fried eggs and beans (the love of my life😍).

Ewo! I said five o. Make that six, i just had to throw in the onions part😁.
But it's not that serious, shey? My weird isn't really weird laidat, abi😂? What do you guys think?

FIVE WEIRD THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ME😆

Oh boy! It feels super awkward doing this, kinda like you guys just walked in on me, in the shower, I mean that's premium 'me time'! But I love you, so, I'm sharing with you, five weird things about me (when next you see me, just do as if we never had this discussion, owkay?😂):

1. I can take pap with anything and most times, I prefer having chunks of that "anything" inside my pap. So I like to chunk my akara, moimoi, fried plantain, bread, banana, anything, inside my pap. Stop looking at me that way! I just love the taste of clashing flavours!😂

2. I am super sensitive to pepper, I taste the pepper inside green bell peppers. I've heard people say that green bell peppers are not peppery at all! Omo! They are! Well, my taste buds said so😌. This makes me fearful of pepper soup😭, so if I ever have pepper soup, I channel all my energy to the animal inside😁, because I stsrt choking after taking two to three spoons of soup😣.

3. I have attempted eating almost everything I cook or bake, raw! Vegetables, rice, beans, groundnut, okra, etc.
I think the only exemptions are potatoes and yam. See fondant ehn, it has suffered in my mouth😂😂. Cake batter nko? I'm yet to decide which tastes better: Cake or cake batter🤔?

4. I think it is weird that I switch between super organised and disorganized at random. You can visit me today and my place is all sparkle dazzle, and you can come another day and my bed is a mess, like right now! And the funny thing is that I'm apologetic aboureet. Okay, maybe I'll start working on it, sha. 😂
