My dear brothers and sisters of Ordo Draconis,

As we gather here today, I want to share with you a message that has been passed down through centuries, a message that still holds great relevance in our lives today. The message I speak of is the ancient Greek inscription, "Nosce te ipsum", or "Know thyself".

This inscription was written in gold at the entrance of the Temple of Apollo in Delphi, and served as a warning to all who sought to enter the temple and seek guidance from the oracles. The sibyls, the wise women who trained to reveal the message of the oracles, also had this inscription written in their room, reminding them that true wisdom and understanding comes from within oneself.

This message is not just a simple piece of advice or recommendation, it is a call to action, a call to take responsibility for our own growth and development. It is a reminder that we must look within ourselves, to understand who we are and what we stand for, before we can truly understand the world around us.

Self-knowledge is the essence of human maturity, it is our greatest responsibility, the task to which we should devote time, insight, and effort. It is not something that can be achieved with a single journey or pilgrimage, it is a daily undertaking.

In today's society, we often find ourselves helpless when it comes to self-knowledge. We act without reflecting first, blame others for our failures, and behave without integrity. We are plagued by self-protective and rationalization biases, making excuses for our failures and holding others responsible for our mistakes.

But true maturity and wisdom comes from taking responsibility for our actions and choices. It comes from understanding that we are not victims of circumstance, but agents of change. It comes from embracing the excellences of our own house, and from there, we can understand the excellences of the world around us.

As the philosopher Thomas Hobbes said, “Whosoever looketh into himself, and considereth what he doth, when he does think, opine, reason, hope, fear, etc, and upon what grounds; he shall thereby read and know, what are the thoughts, and passions of all other men”. In other words, knowing who we are not only helps us, but it helps us understand others as well.

My dear brothers and sisters, I urge you to take this message to heart. Take the time to reflect on yourself, to understand your thoughts, passions, and actions. Take responsibility for your own growth and development, and strive to become the best version of yourself. And as you do so, you will not only understand yourself, but you will understand the world and the people around you.

May the wisdom of the ancient sibyls guide us on our journey towards self-knowledge and understanding. And may we, as members of Ordo Draconis, strive to live our lives in accordance with this powerful message.

As we gather together today, I want to speak to you about a metaphor that has been on my mind lately. Imagine a balloon, slowly being inflated by the economy. As Nixon took the dollar off the gold standard in 1971, it was like a slow steady breath being blown into the balloon. This move, also known as "Nixon Shock", was a response to a growing trade deficit and declining gold reserves.

But as the years passed, inflation started to rise. The U.S government continued to print money and pump it into the economy, which led to an increase in the money supply. This, coupled with a growing trade deficit, led to rising prices and increased inflation. The balloon was getting bigger, but it was also starting to stretch.

In the early 2000s, the balloon continued to inflate as the U.S government and Federal Reserve implemented monetary policies that kept interest rates low and made it easy for people to borrow money. This led to a housing bubble, as housing prices soared and people took out loans they couldn't afford. The balloon was getting bigger and bigger, but it was also becoming increasingly fragile.

The balloon finally popped in 2008, when the housing bubble burst, and the economy went into a recession. Banks and financial institutions were hit hard, and many went bankrupt. The stock market crashed, and housing prices dropped. The balloon, which had been stretched to its limits, finally burst.

But what does this metaphor teach us? It teaches us that the economy, just like a balloon, is constantly changing and evolving. It also teaches us that we must be ever vigilant and prepared for whatever the future may hold. As members of Ordo Draconis, we must always strive to be our best selves, both physically and spiritually. By staying true to our core tenants and values, we can weather any storm that may come our way.

So let us remember the balloon, and let us be ever mindful of the future. Let us work together to create a brighter tomorrow for ourselves, and for the world.

Ordo Draconis (The Order of the Dragon)
The Order of the Dragon is a religion based on the belief in the simulation theory. We believe that the world we experience is a simulated reality created by a higher power, and that our ultimate goal is to awaken to this truth and understand the purpose of our existence within the simulation.
