A RUN UP TO LEARIELAW this morning, this beautiful farm sits surrounded by the city, airport✈️, motorway🚘….producing the best of livestock & arable year round. Coffee with Margaret while Walter finished his combining for the day b4 the rain came💦 & then a wee walk round the ‘coos’. Sheds seem quiet atm, with a lot out in the fields, but they thankfully have quality cattle avail to us every wk, providing the consistency our business requires.
THE SCOTTISH BORDERS…
Just stunning today,all those wee roads down to the Chain Bridge via Coldstream(drats,the cafe Honey Farm was shut, i’m talking cheese scones, cream cheese & carrot chutney😃😆)& then back up via Duns (shop roof related) & thankfully lovely cafe garden centre. If you can, get yourself out, the farmland down round Kelso is bursting with life, beautiful livestock, heather comming into colour,golden fields …& today we even watched ospreys high up in the sky. You just want to bottle days like today🥰

BANCHORY SHOW 2024
Well, it was just a FABULOUS DAY👌☀️
Such a friendly, well put together show, very compact so no having to treck for miles,cracking livestock, lovely trade stands, great catering & so much more.A bit of a ‘drama rama’’ start to the day, Anna was meant to be judging a cattle class, but called me as we were driving up @ 6.30 am to say she’d been up all night, really sick…..such a shame as she was so looking f/d to it, but hey,Mum got the job😁 Such good quality cattle & a super nice team of stewards🥰 Another show, another shining example of why we can have confidence & pride in our Scottish farming industry. Thanks to all the teams & exhibitors who make these shows possible🥰
Here’s a wee share of a fabby day❤️

OUT & ABOUT 🏍️ up over Talla/Meggat, along St Mary’s Loch & home via the Paddyslacks & Innerleithen. Glorious afternoon & be it up on the hills or down in the valleys, its livestock that really enhance the landscape for me, changing with the seasons but always adding that extra wee bit of interest👌🐏🐑🐂

TORTURE……out delivering these, fresh oot the oven😵💫They’re going to miss one aren’t they ??🫣🤗
MIGHT NOT BE A SCORCHER this summer, but we’re still going places, so sandwiches & picnics are a great option to make up @ home, here’s our favourites😍
SO MUCH NONSENSE about ‘meat free this, meat free that’ often spouted by the very same muppets who’ll be jetting off on holiday, heading to a music festival, but hey, thats ok, we eat ‘plant based’😆 but just look around you, there is every good reason to eat beef & lamb produced in this country💪👌Down to Longtown via Moffat, took a wee rd off the Hawick rd that took us up to Eskdalemuir & out@the Gordon Arms, over Paddyslacks & home to Peebles. Great stock out in the fields & hillsides👌Considering the awful events in Ukraine today, its even more important to defend our ‘food security’.
Forsyths cattle today;

I’ve driven over my fav Yair rd to & from st Bs mart for yrs & looked down & thought ‘ there must be a lovely walk along the river’ well..there IS❤️👌Just fabulous, flat, well maintained track, fields on one side, river on the other.This stunning landscape is working away providing us with food & leisure , just as it should be. Everytime we buy ‘Scottish’ this is what we’re supporting💪🐂🐑🚜

HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS GORDON🎉🎉
Gordon is one of the most dedicated & enthuisiastic people i know in our industry, always ready to help & offer advice. Lets be honest, any man that organises & takes 5 ‘butcher gals’ on a trip to N Ireland has to be s’thing special (or bonkers🤣) 🎉🎉
SUPER TASTY, great value family meal👌
I’ve popped on the recipe from a Spanish fb friend (excuse the slightly strange translation!) Basically you’re layering chopped ham, some gently fried onion, grated /slices of cheese , thin slices of just cooked potatoes & pouring over some cream, topped with grated cheese & into the oven until golden & yummy😁
Would work with chopped up cooked chicken & crispy bacon pieces, maybe some chorizo?? It’s really nice…..just ask Mike😁

THOSE MAGNIFICENT PEDIGREE cattle@ The HIGHLAND SHOW last wk, Belted Galloway’s, Highland, Shorthorn; you name it, & then we have the ‘Commercial’ classes? These tremendous cattle are not bred primarily for their beauty, (shape of head,horns, colour etc) but for their viability in the food chain ( carcass quality,live weight to dead weight return etc, basically eating quality & profit,over breed specifications)They include Charolais, Limousin, British Blues, but are most often a mix of breed.Our weekly cattle come from this group, so I enjoyed watching the fab cattle in the ring. Our stockmen produce such good cattle, not only here all glammed up but wk in wk out as you can see from this picture of our chiller on Friday, just our regular stock👌
