Race 1: P2
Race 2: P1

Going into the weekend with no track time ever at Oulton I was a bit nervous and didn’t feel good for the weekend. Qualifying P2 in class was a confidence booster. Race 1 was a great race swapping positions every lap and at one point having 5 riders battling for the win. Race 2 was better as I felt faster in the race making late break moves which helped on the last lap as I managed to get a great run across the line winning by 0.06

Freetech Endurance Race Report…

P1 In Class | P5 Overall.

Extremely hard race as I had 3 sprint races before the endurance so another 2hrs on track was tricky, I managed to pull through and set some fast lap times improving on last years times by 4 seconds. Last years PB was a 1:23 and this year I managed to get into the low 1:19s.

Thank you to for setting up a fantastic bike for the weekend, well done to all the boys riding and Sam for time keeping extremely well!

As I had never been to Three Sisters before I had a test day on the Friday.

Qualifying: It was extremely wet which meant the organisers decided to change the track lay out last minute due to flooding, it was tricky to find a clear bit of track as everyone went out together making it difficult to get a clean lap.

Race 1: Race 1 had dried up but moments before going out the rain hit so we decided to make a last minute destination to change to wets, unfortunately that was the wrong decision however everyone else had gone for the sake option. I had good pace at the start of the race while everyone was trying to find the grip with the wet tyres on, after a few laps my tyres had dropped off and started dropping back, I stayed at a consistent but steady pace to come away with a P3 finish

Race 2: After the wrong choice in race 1 I decided to go with slicks even though there was a few angry grey clouds hanging around, luckily it stayed dry for the race, I managed to get a good start holding 2nd place for a few laps before being passed by Paul, it was more about staying up right and scoring points as it was difficult to find the pace Morgan had so finishing P3 again was ideal especially as I had never raced there.

Overall I enjoyed the weekend, struggled again as not being to the track before is always a challenge but we made it work to come home with a P3.

We are just over halfway through my first official year sprint racing, it wouldn’t be possible without all the support I have from friends, family & sponsors. I just want to thank everyone involved this year, it’s helped us so much which is showing in my results.

Saturday morning we had a practice session where I tagged onto the back of Morgan doing 1.29s, I felt happy with that as an average lap time for the 125s are 32s/33s. I took onboard some lines and braking markers ready for race 1. Race 1: I had qualified 5th overall and 3rd in class. I set off and managed to hold P3 into turn 1 and sat behind Paul and Morgan, after the 2nd lap I had a small moment where I had lost the rear and nearly high sided, I stayed up right however lost a few seconds which meant I lost the tow. I crossed the line P3 but a way behind. I wasn’t happy as the rear end slide had knocked my confidence for race 1. Race 2: I had qualified in the same spot so again made sure I could stick to Paul and Morgan as they were showing pace all weekend. I stuck with them for a few laps but ended up losing the tow again and lost a lot of time. I had a good scrap with Jay on his Moto4 bike for the rest of the race, I was feeling better that race however I was running mid 30s. Race 3: Due to scrapping with Jay all race I was struggling to set fast laps so was 9th overall on the grid which is the furthest back I have been on the grid since Cadwell. Again setting off from the lights I stayed wit both Morgan and Paul, I lead for a few corners before being passed by Morgan and a lap later Paul had passed, while he was trying to bridge the gap back to Morgan he tipped into turn 6 he ran wide and lost the front, that pushed me up to P2 which is where I finished, I improved lap time managing to dip into the low 29s. Race 4: I had been put into P9 again, the lights went out and I pushed at the start to try and get a gap which I had leading for a lap. On lap 3 Paul decided to make a stupid overtake in a straight line clipping my bar which sent me into a tank slapper and loosing a lot of time, luckily I stayed on how ever my brake lever guard had rattled on the bars and came loose which meant I struggled for a few laps trying to brake, the leaver guard came off and was able to pick up the pace again how ever it was to late and finishing P3 again. Overall I had an eventful weekend and came away with a P2 overall which wasn’t what I was expecting especially after never being to the track before and trying to learn, how ever I finished P2 so that’s more points in the bag and a few more points on Paul. I just want to say thank you to everyone that helped this weekend as well as my sponsors who have made racing better this year!

From the get go we had a few issues even before we had hit the track, when I went to take the bike to get scrutinised they had said my numbers where incorrect and that I haven’t got a card allocated to me to fill in which was confusing, I then went to sign on and was told to see the organisers, unfortunately when I had originally booked my slot there was a few technical issues which meant the classes I was supposed to be racing in, I was a reserve rider.
Practice/Qualifying: Learning from my mistake last time out at Cadwell, I sat back and waited for everyone to leave the pit lane until I went out onto the track, after feeling comfortable with the bike and track I put in a couple fast laps which set me P5 overall and P1 in Class.
Race 1: The lights went out and got a good start and tipping into turn 2 I was nearly taken out. I then sat back for a few laps trying to find a pace but couldn’t get comfortable. After 3/4 laps I wasn’t feeling the race and was mainly just focusing on the laps on my pit bored counting down, then I saw there was 2 laps left and decided to pull my finger out and fight for the win, after leading onto the last lap I was passed into the hairpin and pushed back down to P2. I managed to get a good drive out the corner and slipstreamed down to the line taking P1 by 0.043
Race 2: Race 2 I was starting middle of the front row, after getting the jump off the line I was leading for a few corners before being passed, I was then running in the front group for a lap or two before losing the tow, Morgan managed to pull us back to the group and going into the last lap we gained a second on P1. We all went into the hairpin 4 abreast and I rolled off hoping everyone would run wide but only Paul was the unlucky one and managed to do him on the line to finish P2. Overall it was a megga weekend, turning 21 on Sunday and then winning my first sprint race on Monday and not only winning but setting fastest race lap times and qualifying times.
I want to thank everyone for believing in me, all the people who have helped out, my sponsors and my family! I couldn’t of done it without out you all.

Saturday mornings free practice was dry and with me having a track day the Thursday before I was comfortable. I was 2 seconds faster than the grid so was a little less tense. Saturday afternoon we had the qualifying. Setting off first was a brave choice as I had the whole field behind me wanting a tow. Morgan was the only rider able to tag along and managed to out qualify me by 1 second which I believe was slipstream. I had qualified P2 on the front row ready for race 1. Saturdays race was very close and with me and Morgan having a clear track the whole race I was certain we had broken away from the pack. On the last lap I had slipstreamed and passed Morgan just in time for P1 but unfortunately 2 back markers were sat in the middle of the gooseneck and was blocked by them. Morgan took advantage and flew by into Mansfield. I crossed the line with P2 Sunday morning we had race 2. I was ready and fired up with Saturdays disaster. I had a good start and mirrored what I did on Saturday but struggled a bit more as there were 2-3 riders with us. I passed in the same spot as last time and was leading the last lap. As I was approaching the gooseneck the rear stepped out and I was unable to save it and was sent down the track. So for race 2 it was a DNF. Race 3 I had been put P17 due to my crash. The lights went out and I tried to get as much ground into turn 1 as possible and managed to get into P5. For the following laps I picked off riders as I went along getting myself into P2 at one point. Again bad luck struck and due to the crash the fairings had sagged and caught my gear leaver so I wasn’t able to go down gears into corners. I was able to ride round it but lost time and was pushed back down to P4. I finished P4 for race 3 which was a bit disappointing but from P17 what can I expect. Overall I finished P4, 1 point behind P3.

Race 3. Race 3 was a very wet one and with being held up in race 2 I had qualified P5 on the grid for race 3. I got a fantastic start and tried to pull away early but Morgan stuck right on me. I struggled to get away so just had to settle with Morgan and myself battling till the end. Again it was a really close finish but another P2 for me. Race 4 came and it was tricky to pick which tyres to go for as all morning it had rained but the sun came out and was drying the track quickly. Luckily everyone else on the grid had kept wets on so we were all in the same boat. It was a really rough race 4 as Morgan, Jay and myself were bashing and bumping all the way round but unfortunately Morgan broke away again and couldn’t close the gap for me to finish another P2. Over all my races I had managed a P2 in every race and so close to winning a couple so I am happy with how my first race weekend went and can’t wait for Cadwell.

Thank you to my sponsors:

Thank you to Darryl from for finishing the final bits on my bike before the weekend!

Friday/Saturday Report.

Well! What a weekend. A big change for me this weekend as I was racing in my first ACU organised event which was a real eye opener for what’s to come this year. Friday test day was really good, getting to grips with the track and the bike for the first time. We had some gearing issues but managed to sort them in the afternoon. Qualifying came round and I was extremely nervous as this was my first ever qualifying session so had to make it count. I wasn’t sure where I would be so I just kept my head down and not let off. To my surprise I had qualified on the front row in P2 next to Owen who qualified pole on his RLT 50cc. Race 1. Race 1 was a tense start as I got away from the line really well but got swamped into turn 1. It took me a couple laps to get into a rhythm as the 400s where miles faster in a straight line but soon as a corner came we got stuck behind them. I was then fighting for a win which was amazing. I crossed the line 0.02 from Morgan. which was a real close race. Race 2 came around and I started on row 1 again in the middle. Again I had a lightning start but got swamped into turn 1. Morgan, Jay and myself tried to break away from the following pack which worked and then had a fantastic battle but unfortunately got stuck behind a 400 which let Morgan get a good lead on us and with the slip stream gone we couldn’t catch up.

What a weekend!

Final Round of the Freetech Endurance Championship.

I started the weekend not 100% as I had an ear infection which put my balance off as well as anti biotics which again didn’t make me feel great. The first couple laps where just to get a feel for if I could even ride yet alone get into the rhythm of the track. I felt comfortable with the bike and had loads to learn as I had never been to the track. I struggled on 2 parts of the circuit which where the breaking zones as my ear infection couldn’t judge what to do going from flat out 6th gear to of the throttle and down 2 gears.

Race day came around and I felt a bit better which was amazing! James qualified us P13 which again didn’t look good how ever a quick start got us up to the front, with this track being very fast the Moto4 bikes shot off leaving everyone else behind. We battled keeping up with our main competitor for the weekend staying with in seconds of them on track, unfortunately we where given a 2 lap penalty which isn’t what we wanted but we pushed through to finish P2 in class which meant winning the Streetstock Championship!

I am so greatful for the opportunity Money Motorsport have given me! They helped me with my first ever win as well as a championship so I just want to give a massive shout out to the boys and girls over there!
