You may have seen on some of my other accounts, that YES I am pregnant. The Chick family will be growing this September!
I'm very excited... but also very tired. Which is why you haven't seen many updates from me lately.
Never fear, my Etsy shop and blog are still active and I do have a few things still in the works. I haven't done much sewing lately, but I'm trying to get myself remotivated now that the second trimester has me feeling a little more like myself.
I'll share more soon but just had to drop a quick update. I'm still here! don't give up on me yet. ππ₯°
I hope it's not too early to get excited about Easter because I'm EXCITED!
If you're in need of an Easter gift for that favorite baby in your life I have got you covered! I have a bunch of these bunny ear toys available now until the end of April! They are crinkly and floppy and the backing is soooo soft and snuggly.
Head over to my Etsy shop and check them out https://www.etsy.com/shop/ThatJoChick
These Parasol Girls are on vintage quilt squares from a patchwork project someone started long ago and never finished. I have been giving them new life by carefully removing them from the squares and restitching them onto clothing items such as this girl's skirt I recently listed in my Etsy shop.
I love salvaging vintage pieces like this and turning them into something beautiful and functional. Which one should I use next??
You can find the skirt listing here: https://www.etsy.com/ThatJoChick/listing/1154110380/button-up-girls-skirt-vintage-patchwork?utm_source=Copy&utm_medium=ListingManager&utm_campaign=Share&utm_term=so.lmsm&share_time=1644229372514

Now what??
The baby pants are now a nice light purple color.
I'm going to now add a little skirt and it's up to you to decide which fabric it will be made out of.
I have these 2 options... a plaid and a floralish. They both have very similar shades of purple in them as the pants but they're so different from each other!
Will it be
1: Plaid
2: Floral
Leave your vote in the comments!!!
Google told me that 1 part red and 2 parts blue would make indigo. Google lied to me.
Sorry this took me so long to get out. Potty training is going well, for those of you keeping up π
β€οΈ
Sorry for going MIA on all of you!! The entire past week I have been solely focused on potty training π¬π¬π¬ she has actually done incredibly well and I'm so proud of my girl, but I have not got ANY work done!
I promise those dyed baby pants are coming soon! Here's our blend for the chosen color.
I NEED YOUR HELPβ
β
I was recently given these baby pants in a bag of clothes destined for the trash. They're in perfect condition but just.... blah. β
β
So for my first project of the year, I'm reaching out to all of you to help me give these pants a makeover! I'll be posting every step of the process in my stories but I think we need to start with a dye bath! β
β
What color should these pants become???β

Another year over... Let's go 2022!
Can I just say that I'm happy to have the holidays behind us?
No lie, I had to take a little break over the last month or so. I was stressing myself out over missing content deadlines, I was guilting myself for not feeling "Christmasy" enough for my daughter and I just had to realize that spending actual time with my family and focusing on my own mental heath were more important than keeping up with social media or baking alllll the cookies.
So yeah, feeling a little vulnerable, but that's where I've been.
THAT SAID I'm excited to start a new year. I'm sitting down today going over my yearly plan and I'm ready to tackle what's ahead of me.
On a side note, my girls' Christmas bows look perfectly acceptable on adult woman too π

Much love
It has been a BUSY few weeks. First Thanksgiving and now Anthony is away so it's just been Jane and I at home. I am a tired mama!
I haven't been online a lot lately, but I do have a new blog post out today!
The tree is up! I'm feeling festive! And now you can follow my super simple tutorial and make your own orange peel stars to decorate your own home for Christmas!
Here's the link: https://www.thatjochick.com/orange-peel-stars/ go check it out!!!
Happy crafting π§‘βπ
Jane was working hard today on some Christmas cards!
And look! She's wearing one of her mama-made Christmas bows π
There's plenty more still available in my Etsy shop! Check it out! πππ

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The time to do your Christmas shopping is NOW. Shipping times have been very slow everywhere with the coming holidays and because all of my products have to go through customs, I can NOT guarantee any packages from me will make it to you before Christmas! Don't wait till December to place your orders.
Because of this, I will not be making very many Christmas-specific Items. I have a handful of Christmas bows in my Etsy shop now (They're SO CUTE) but mostly I will be making general winter items unless I receive a specific request. But so many of my items would be amazing Holiday gifts and stocking stuffers.
So go check it out! https://www.etsy.com/shop/ThatJoChick
These 2 winter hats were just added to the shop today!
It's that time of year!!! ππ Who else is excited?
I just added a bunch of Christmas and New Year's bows to the Etsy shop! How CUTE are these?? Perfect Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers!

Also, see the shoes she's wearing?? Those were MY mama's when she was Jane's age.
This is the only shot of Jane's Tinkerbell costume you will see before Halloween So take it in!!!
This is the dress I thrifted next to the final result after cutting it up and sewing it back together.
I just put up a post on the blog that walks through the making of this dress. I decided to release some of our festive projects now in case anyone is looking for some pre-Halloween inspiration.
here's the link to that post: https://www.thatjochick.com/tinkerbell-costume-walkthrough/
New bows added to the Etsy shop! There are two available, one is a hair clip, the other a hair tie! So cute β

So it's been a bit since I posted... Not gonna lie, the past week or two have been kinda hectic and I've had to switch my focus a little. But that's the cool thing about being my own boss! I can do that!
One good reason as to why I've been swamped is IT'S OCTOBER!! π which means..... Costumessssss! You got that right. I've been working on making sure I have our matching family Halloween costumes planned out down to the smallest details.
Here's a tiny glimpse at what I've been working with.
Last year we did the Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red, her Grandma, and the Wolf.
Anyone who can correctly guess our costumes for this year gets 15% off at my Etsy shop!
If you know me personally and I have told you, please don't spoil it ππ
I was super satisfied this morning with how well my Matcha matched this dress that I dyed a few months back. Was just so delectably perfect!
If you missed it, I documented the dying process on my blog. See it here: https://www.thatjochick.com/straw-hat/
Do you remember this mending trick I showed you all earlier this year?? Well I have now explained it even further in my latest blog post. It's super easy and explained in just 5 short steps.
If you have ever had a button rip a hole in your favorite shirt, or if you just want to reinforce a well loved garment and prevent any damage, then this is for you! Check it out now: https://www.thatjochick.com/button-mending/
Let me know what you think!
Here it is!! There's still a few changes I need to make to the pattern, it's not quite there yet, but for the first test run I'm pretty dang happy with it!

Sometimes I just need a little no-sew project to freshen things up a little.
The big reveal should be ready soooooon!
Just finished this cute little play dress. It's available on my Etsy here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1062992122/girls-play-dress-red-and-blue-heritage
I love this print and there's more of it coming! I'm working on making a few more in baby sizes (this one is 2T). Is there a specific size you're looking for?
A shirt that my sister and I wore at her age and pants I made out of the sleeves from a Men's dress shirt (notice the cuffs??)
Can you believe how well they match!?
I'm calling this fabric "Pumpkin Spice". Everytime I see it I just want a slice of pumpkin pie! π₯§

If you've been waiting for a sign that it's time to start your fall shopping, HERE IT IS!
All of my fall items have just been added to the blog shop as well as my new Etsy store! Check out the new shop here:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/thatjochick
So far my Etsy only has my newest and current seasonal items. I will add more later depending on how sales go. Let me know what you think!
I have decided to open up an Etsy store and list some of my shop's inventory. If it goes well I will move everything over and have my blog store link to Etsy.
I would love some feedback from my beautiful followers (that's you!) π
Would you be more likely to shop from and Etsy store or an independent blog store??? πββοΈπββοΈ
Up till now I have stuck to my own platform because of the freedom it allows me and to avoid the additional fees that websites like Etsy charge. But I decided to give it a shot and see if my traffic and sales increase.
Stay tuned for more on this... So far I find Etsy very easy to navigate and shopper friendly. I hope all of you feel the same. β€οΈ
