Moderator Heidi Strauss creates dance-based experiences to examine human behaviour from different perspectives. A multi-Dora Award winning choreographer and the Artistic Director of adelheid, Heidi is a recipient of the KM Hunter Award for Dance.
Nick Green is a Dora and Sterling Award-winning playwright and the creator of The Social Distancing Festival. Nick has been a part of the Stratford Festival’s Foerster Bernstein New Play Development Program; Factory Theatre’s Natural Resources unit; Nightwood Theatre’s Write from the Hip; and Sheridan College’s Canadian Music Theatre Project.
Ian Garrett is designer, producer, educator, and researcher in the field of sustainability in arts and culture. He is the director of the Centre for Sustainable Practice in the Arts; Associate Professor of Ecological Design for Performance at York University; and Producer for Toasterlab.
Driven by a deep commitment to the primacy of sound in creative expression, Debashis Sinha has created numerous audio- and music-centred projects across Canada and internationally. Sinha is a committed educator and is currently researching sound production using machine learning and AI, funded by the Canada Council for the Arts.
Sagan Yee (they/them) is an artist working in indie and experimental animation and videogames. From 2016 to 2020, they were the Executive Director of Hand Eye Society, a non-profit dedicated to the exploration of games and playful media as an artform.

Introducing COSMOCABARAET - a live-streamed international cabaret showcase created by Theso (India) and the Paprika Festival (Canada), in association with the Social Distancing Festival.
COSMOCABARET will bring together 12 emerging artists (16-25) to share in a creative process and cross-cultural exchange. Participants will have the opportunity to explore performance styles including drag, dance, spoken word, stand-up comedy, singing, and more!

CALL TO ARTISTS- PAID OPPORTUNITY!! I’m so excited to introduce Connecting Perspectives. This new interdisciplinary art project is being produced in a partnership between the Consulate General of Canada in New York, along with all 12 other Canadian diplomatic missions across the United States, and The Social Distancing Festival, with Artistic Associate Tawhida Tanya Evanson.
This project will see 26 artists in Canada and the United States paired up and paid $1000USD to create new, collaborative work. We are looking for professional visual artists, poets, choreographers, composers/songwriters, and spoken word artists who are enthusiastic about the creation of innovative, interdisciplinary work.
We are hoping to get submissions from all across Canada and the United States, so any shares will be hugely appreciated! The deadline for submissions is January 22, 2021. Check out the site for more information and to apply!

We match-made artists from cities including Zebbug, Tallinn, Mexico City, Ojai, Toronto, Newcastle Upon Tyne, and London. Each pairing collaborated on creating a new artistic piece for exhibition on the site, and the works are INCREDIBLE!

In Real Life — The Social Distancing Festival Toronto, CANADA - Ok, this one is special to me. This is the project that led to this entire site being created. On March 13, I was at the end of the first week of rehearsals for In Real Life, a new musical - book and lyrics by me (Nick Green), music and lyrics by (the amazing) Kevin Wong.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been pairing up artists from different disciplines in cities all around the world to create a new piece of art to be exhibited as part of Long Distance Art on The Social Distancing Festival. This project has warmed my heart and inspired me so much, and I'm hoping it'll do the same for others.
Artists include dancer Tadhi Alawi in Dar es Salaam paired with Toronto musical theatre powerhouse trio Barbara Johnston, Anika Johnson, and Suzy Suzannah Wilde; musician Charlie Rauh in New York City with a painter Liza Merkalova in Perth, Australia; and a multimedia artist and designer Tekikki Walker in Ohio with Calgary fibre artist and overall star Simone Saunders.
