I paint animals, while telling their story.
When I was in college I had originally planned to minor in art, and started working on it immediately when I got to school. During my second year I enrolled in my an art class called “Jewelry Making” my dumb ass thought it would be a class where we creating beaded necklaces and such…much to my surprise, it was a metal working class, and known to be one of the most demanding in the art department. If you are interested in reading how these two pieces ended my art career before it started, check out my new blog on my new website 🎉, link in bio.
The mind is a funny thing. One day I'm on a creative high and the next it's hard to pick up any supplies. When I find myself in these moments, I like to shift from painting, and drawing to doing something with my hands. Today I finished this plant holder for my dad, and clay is calling my name. My goal is to keep creating, even if it's not what I'm "supposed" to be doing. Sometimes productive procrastination is self care.
Never expect your art friends to talk you out of trying a new art supply 😂 thank you for the recommendation, you were right, I love them ❤️
Colorway number two. I love the cool toned pastels.
For Wednesday here is one of my work in progress pieces This is a pattern I've been working on fine tuning and trying to decide on final colors. I liked this pastel version so I thought I'd share.
I wasn't feeling great today, so I decided to practice making stripes with some crazy dotted lines. It was a great learning experience, and only took me three attempts to get them to repeat properly 😁
My 6 year old challenged me to a painting contest this morning and this was my entry 😂😂
Finding a style is a tricky thing. I've created patterns in many different ways, some more sophisticated than others, but sophisticated has never felt genuine to me as an artist, so recently I've been enjoying silly cartoons and wonky animals that make me smile and laugh a little while creating them. This pattern is a candidate for my "childhood pets" collection I've been working on ❤️
Loving how these turned out!
Work in progress, my productive procrastination for the week? My son's birthday!! It's been difficult to make and hide these giant Mario decorations. As usual, I've taken on a project much larger than the time frame allowed, so I'll be in a mad creative rush, until I get this all done for his birthday dinner. I ran out of green paint so off to the hardware store!
Doodling with paint and pen
A whole lotta llama. Next Monday is graduation for immersion course. I can't believe how fast it went by, I designed my first collection, then decided I didn't like the style and now I'm trying out cartoon animals. Enjoy my llamas.

I was asked to paint bathroom passes for a kindergarten class, and you know I'm not going with your standard boy/girl restroom signs. These are the sketches I plan to paint on wood...updates to come ❤️
Every couple of weeks I buy flowers to make arrangements for my son's and husband. Here are this week's, they're always so beautiful and inspiring 😍
Working on a special project and thought I would share a little bit of it. It's not a repeat, but the immersion course has really made Adobe Illustrator a joy to work with, and I was so excited when I created this.
I made stripes! I realize this seems like a pretty simple and basic pattern, but making them repeat seamlessly is harder than it looks. Yet here they are, they connect and they repeat! Now to try it with more complex shapes. Thank you for your helpful tips and tricks!
A Chickadee Motif ❤I'm officially working on my first surface pattern collection and this is a little sneak peak at one piece. The Immersion Course is amazing and the skills I've been learning are life changing. I'm so excited to continue this journey.
Here it is Day 30 of the 30 day Watercolor challenge taught by Zaneena Nabeel. This course was so well taught and I really enjoyed the process of making so many wonderful pieces.
Day 29 of 30 for the watercolor challenge I've been completing on skillshare. This has been my stress relief while diving deep into learning adobe illustrator with . Her immersion course is once in a lifetime, and I love it so much, but sometimes I need to disconnect and unwind, and these quick painting do just that.
I'm in the final stretch, with only 3 left. This is day 28 of the 30 day watercolor challenge taught by Zaneena Nabeel
Spring is here but I have just a few more winter paintings to share. 🤣 Here is day 27 (day 26 was posted a while back) of the skillshare class taught by Zaneena Nabeel I love the color combination of this one.
Back at it again, here is day 25 of Zaneena Nabeel skillshare class. So close to the end, and such a beautiful collection of paintings I have.
I wanted to spend some time practicing a forest, but then I decided I wanted to use bight colors, and tis was the end result.
I'd like to share another goldfinch I made using procreate and this time Adobe Illustrator as well. I've been learning a ton in the Immersion Course I've been taking from . She's an amazing teacher, and I'm so grateful that I get to learn from her.
My first attempt at drawing a goldfinch. from a picture I took, I did take some creative liberties, because the ones in my yard are not this color yet, but they're still very cute.
I've been study birds recently, taking pictures of them at my feeders, drawing them in why I feel represent them. Well, may I present "The Doves" they are a consistent presence in my yard and I can't help but view them as goofy little creatures.
Back in December I spent a week practicing cat figure drawings, and these are some of my favorites 😂
Sometimes things just don't work out. I struggled with the painting on the left, the perspective was off, the trees weren't working like I hoped, so I tried again. The right side is attempt #2
Got a new sketchbook and today I decided to practice different techniques with trees. First page done.
I have been wanting to give this painting another attempt since November, and I finally got around to it. On the right is the original I painted while on vacation and on the left is yesterdays painting.
