Mariposa Design Co
We design one-of-a-kind websites for Creative Business Owners.
ICYMI: Yesterday, we officially launched the new brand and new website for and we couldn’t be more stoked for her new launch! 🥳
Alexis is a local wedding and portrait photographer based right here in Bakersfield, CA and now has a new brand to reflect the excitement and fun brings to the table. Every corner of her website is adorned with her style and feels like you walked into her home. Think wavy checker patterns, scribbles, pastels, 90’s inspired graphics, swiftie vibes, and subtle nods to her love of rollerblading and retro cameras. We had so much fun creating it and can’t wait to see all the beautiful moments she’ll get to capture for her clients! 😍 Thank you again Alexis for giving us this opportunity to help you with your online home! We loved working with you and can’t wait for you to experience life with your dream clients. We just know it’s going to take you to some amazing places! 🤩
Love your friends, Vic & Sasha
Did you know the name “Mariposa” is the Spanish word for butterfly? It’s a nod to my heritage, especially because Spanish was the first language I learned. It’s also a subtle nod to our old work place where Vic and I first got aquatinted with one another - we met at one of our previous work places - a butterfly warehouse that raises live caterpillars that turn into butterflies so students all over the world can witness metamorphosis before their very eyes.
*If you’ve ever done that experiment in grade school growing up, now you know where the cup of caterpillars came from!
We also like to think of your creative journey as a transition, or metamorphosis, period. This is where you could feel stuck, and are ready to see that growth take shape. After all, it is our belief that your brand should grow with you.
If you’re ready to take your brand to new heights, reach out and find out how we can help make that a reality for you. 🦋
Cooking up some fun and exciting things for Stay tuned! 🤫
Happy weekend, friends! We hope you’re kicking up your feet today and enjoying the last bit of summer vacation. Today, Vic is in Sequoia National Park photographing an engagement session over at our sister brand 📸 Then, we have a few days off! Tell us your weekend plans! 👇
Just wanna send a big congratulations to Lynette on launching her new online home!🥳
It was an absolute pleasure working with Lynette on customizing her new Manhattan website template 🤍 Her new website experience screams sophistication and elegance in all aspects of her offerings.
Lynette is a certified professional photographer based out of Wenatchee, WA. Her specialties include headshot & branding photography, family and maternity portraits, pet and equine portraiture, and also education for photographers, where she offers occasional workshops for photography students who want to level up 🤍 In addition, she is also the founder of the Ryder Safe Foundation, a non-profit that aims to teach pet owners the importance of dog collar safety! As you can imagine, that tugged at our heartstrings considering our love for our pets. You are one busy woman Lynette! ❤️
Sending you a heartfelt Congratulations, Lynette on your new online home and thank you so much for your trust in us - it means the world! Now enjoy a margarita with a side of some tacos (her fave) you deserve it! 🍸🌮
Just getting back into the swing of things from an amazing, much needed, long overdue group vacation with our family! Over 20 of us went! Here are some of our Hawaiian trip highlights!
🦈 Went snorkeling and saw a shark!
🐬 At that same time we saw dolphins
🐢 Snorkeled with sea turtles
🤕 Vic tore a calf muscle playing pickleball
🌺 Enjoyed our first Luau
🦞 Got badly sunburned
🌴 Island hopped
🍍Tried so much amazing fruit and meals
🌊 Swam in the ocean
All in all, it was a long over due trip, and we have our cups filled, ready to pour back into you and our craft. Be on the lookout for more brand and website projects coming up on the horizon! 🤩
A fun, new brand we are working on for a fellow wedding and portrait photographer, that we absolutely cannot wait to unveil soon! 😍 That’s about all I can share right now, but just know it’s going to be a good one! 🩵
Today is Vic’s open heart surgery anniversary. On this day, 7 years ago, we were checking into the hospital, not knowing what would await us on the other side. ❤️🩹
Vic’s surgery is a constant reminder to us of just how precious life is. I remember what an emotional rollercoaster it was. We were newlyweds, only married for a few months before we found out about his leaky valve. Lots of faith in God, prayers, the support of our family and friends, and amazing doctors and nurses pulled us through such a scary time in our lives.
His surgery is also one of the many reasons that inspired us to pursue running a business full-time together. We didn’t want to waste another minute working for someone else’s dream.
Swipe through to read his story straight from the man himself.
And Happy Heart Surgery anniversary my love 🥹❤️🩹

Hey Showit Designer! Ready to level up your passive income game? Good! You’re in the right place.
Let us tell you a story. When we first began offering web design, we first started with custom design projects only. However, we couldn’t keep up with the demand, and knew we wanted to expand somehow. In comes Showit Website Templates to the rescue. After creating a few Showit templates and adding them to our online shop, as well as the Showit Design marketplace, we were able to scale and help more creatives with their websites than we ever thought would be possible. Even though it’s just us two! - In case we haven’t met, Hi! We’re Vic and Sasha Barrera.
We wanted other designers to finally gain their time back, which is a precious commodity when you’re designing custom sites, so we designed our newly beloved Showit Canvas Collection. Showit has made it so easy for creatives to create their own sites. It’s like the Canva of web design, it’s user friendly, and best of all, there’s no code involved!
Our Showit Canvas Collection is made to help you create templates faster than you can read this caption! 😁 But in all seriousness, once you start designing, you’ll be earning passive income in no time! 💸
If you’re ready to finally scale your Showit web design business, be sure to check out the Showit Canvas Collection using the link in our bio!
Hi friends!! Great news, I will be starting up Live Event Painting again for weddings after taking a 6 year hiatus lol. I just created a new IG dedicated for all of my art work. It would mean so much to me if you could give it a follow. ☺️
I remember it All Too Well. (In the words of T.Swift) Sorry, had to!
I remember thinking I didn’t wanna let my family down. I didn’t wanna fail. But I also didn’t want to teach anymore. Not to mention all the student loans I took out, the countless hours I spent getting an education. I don’t regret my education one bit, I learned some valuable skills and gained so many important lessons along the way. But nothing felt more freeing than getting to pursue my true passion. And I’m here to tell you my story in hopes that it’ll inspire you to decide whether or not you should pursue your passion too. We’ll be honest, you may or may not make a ton of money doing that thing you love, and you may even break even. But the earning potential is there, at it worked out for us in our case because we now make triple what I made as a teacher. This isn’t to discourage you or flaunt it. There are so many sacrifices we had to make and so many late nights involved. But if you just take the leap, you never know what will await you around the corner.
Swipe through to read my story. 💫
If you’re anything like us, your mind is filled with a million little ideas each day that have the potential to reshape your life in a major way - financially speaking.
But, more times than not your need for perfection prevents you from taking the first step. You get so caught up developing the perfect plan that you fail to take action. Well, the “Million Dollar Weekend”, written by Noah Kagan, shines a light on that all too familiar scenario and encourages entrepreneurs to just go for it and refine the method as you go.
It’s a wonderfully insightful book that encourages anyone in the creative industry to change the way they chase after their dreams with the “Law of 100”. Simply put, the more times you try something, the better you’ll be for it. (If you’re a photographer, do you remember what your first 100 photographs looked like compared to now?) So in short, try sending that newsletter out 100 times, write 100 captions, post to YouTube 100 times, as you do the process gets easier and your message becomes clearer.
It’s amazing how much clarity a little perspective can provide. If you’re interested, check out the book Million Dollar Weekend, by Noah Kagan, we highly recommend it!
Tell us in the comments, what’s that one thing you wanna start? ⬇️
Being productive is important, but taking the time to fill your cup and resting is just as important. Do you agree? 🤍

This week, resembling the entirety of our last year, has been a blur. You see, while it was one of the busiest years of our career, our tanks were drained. We suffered a twinge of burnout. Running two businesses is no joke! Funny enough, we were grateful for the fumes we were left with. You see, the struggle is the one thing nobody can be told about entrepreneurship. You sorta just have to experience the rising and the falling for yourself.
Being a creative business owner will push your limits, it will test your confidence. It will lift you above the clouds and it will drag you through the mud. Yet, ultimately, it will reveal what you are truly capable of. And, truth be told, it’s one of the most beautiful experiences we can think of.
Friends, what do you do to overcome burnout? Let us know in the comments 🤍
Do any of these resonate with you?
For me personally, I know I struggle with slide number 3 and 4 quite often. Whatever challenge you’re currently dealing with, we are here to support you! Just remember, changing your mindset is always key no matter what comes your way.
For the last slide, if you’re struggling with Brand Clarity, then you’ll want to download our Free Brand Guide Workbook. Just comment “BRAND” and we’ll send it your way! Happy Designing 🖥️🤍

Happy Valentine’s Day to my one and only .barrera_ ! These snapshots are some of my highlights with you, exploring new places. But my favorite memories of all are the ones we don’t have photos of. The ones where we’re simply living in the moment like dancing in the kitchen. Singing in the car together. Cooking meals together. Cuddling together after a long day of work. Pranking each other. I love this life we’ve built together and the experiences we get to share. I love us. Cheers to many more adventures, I love you with all my ❤️
