GAMBOA QUESTIONS SOME SILAY CITY PROJECT PROPOSALS

Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego has lined up a total of P1.4 billion in infrastructure projects for construction in the city. This includes the new city hall, Silay public market rehabilitation, Silay city college construction, and housing projects.

However, Silay City Councilor Ryan Gamboa finds the proposed public market rehabilitation and the funding of Silay City College questionable.

In an exclusive interview with 23 Media, Gamboa stated that there was no breakdown of expenses, market proposals, feasibility studies, or terms of reference for the market in the 300 million budget. He finds the proposal of the said programs half-baked and questionable.

“I had several questions and some of my requirements that I asked for were not [satisfied] but I strongly support any project that will benefit Silay” Gamboa said.

The councilor has questioned and abstained regarding the 300 million probation ordinance while dissatisfied with the requirements.

According to Gamboa, more concrete details were needed before he could approve the Market and City College project proposal, and a long-term solution should also be available for the proposed project.

Moreover, Gamboa said that a 10-year master plan for the development of Silay is possible. Before undertaking any major project, he emphasized that they should map out the city's economic, agricultural, tourism, educational, and other growth markets.
