Black Hallow LaMancha's & Homestead
Raising ADGA Lamancha goats
Several Rex rabbits 👀 to hop!
These are pedigreed, I would consider them to be "Homestead Quality". Can be shown but I cannot guarantee show results. I don't show my Rex. These are Standard Rex, NOT Mini Rex.
5️⃣0️⃣ Each. Pick up in La plata MD
Introducing our newest member Fancy Fields Bella Ragazza! We've decided to work on a line of mini Lamanchas. I'm pretty excited to embark on this journey. Picture from her breeder. 😊
Happy 4th birthday to our herd Queen Fancy 🥳🎉
It was a beautiful day yesterday 😊 Just hanging out with the goats
Learned more about how to properly pose my Standard Rex at the Richmond VA rabbit show Saturday and this morning a gray Sebastopol gosling hatched.
Well that's a wrap!
Total count this year
Does 2, Bucks 7
Twilight wrapped up my season with quads! Two does and two bucks! Both does are retained. Here's to hoping that next year the doe fairy will bless us with more does, but I'm happy that I was blessed with two does!
Also! First Sepastopol gosling hatched yesterday 💗
This morning was rather hectic. E.B. Farms JA Miss Fancy Pants tricked us. She was sonogramed with what we saw as a single. Fancy has given me single bucks kids her last two kiddings. Well she definitely had other plans this year! She had triplets, sadly the first one was a very tiny doeling who did not make it. Followed by copy and paste buck twins. I was so shocked as she was definitely larger this year but Fancy is also a little bit of a piggy and I just was thinking she had to have twins this year.
Two more does to kid and that will be it for this year.
Playing catch-up with posting! First kidding was E.B. Farm's MT Imperial March gave me in typical fashion, twin chocolate bucks. On February 25, 2024. Both boys are growing well.
Rise and shine!
We don't normally have temperatures this cold in southern Maryland. Currently 24°, feels like 13°. Last winter we barely had a dusting of snow. Even my heated water buckets and bowls can't keep up, the top layer is ice. So I'm carrying out warm water every few hours for them all. So far everyone has been handling this pretty well. The goats have grown nice thick coats of fur, the birds have their houses to protect them from the fidget winds. Today's the last really cold day and by Friday we will be in the low 60's and rain.
I decided to also use this page to share everything farm/homestead related that goes on here. I hope you enjoy seeing all of our animals along with our Lamanchas. 🐐
My Sebastopol geese have officially started laying and I've got my incubators filling hoping for goslings soon. 🪿
Confirmed pregnancies for the herd! Looking forward to this years kidding!
Hopefully the girls are bred. We left our first homegrown doe open to be shown as a dry yearling. Hoping for more does!
This week I will start milking the girls once a day. Beginning the process of drying off the girls in preparation for breeding this fall. I'm most looking forward to seeing what this lady gives me. So begins picking mates for my lovely ladies. I got lucky and got one doe kid this year. She will remain dry. I hope I get double the doe kids next year! One can hope!
I love taking strolls with my girls.
Little man is adorable!
Single buckling for E.B. Farms Miss Fancy pants. One more doe to go.
Beautiful spring day!
Our herd queen 👑 E.B. Farms miss fancy pants is due the end of the month. Sonogram showed one kid, she's big. Last year she had a huge single buck kid. I'm hoping there's a doe in there this year!
Also welcoming E.B. Farms MO Maximum Moonshine. Beautiful yearling doe with waddles.
Super excited to be adding this doe to my herd. Pure-Delight Polka Dottie (+VVV 86) TWILIGHT will be coming today! She is my first Experimental and first moonspotted lady.
Super excited to announce our first Doe with our herd name, meet Black Hollow Painted Lady.
We have one confirmed breeding, hopefully the other two will be confirmed soon. Fingers crossed for does this year.
Love this little buckling ❤
