Let the Defenders of Ukraine know they are not forgotten. This postcard was created to be meaningful to the soldiers who receive it. Adorning the map of Ukraine are anenomes. While white anemones are common in wooded areas of Ukraine, the purple/blue and yellow are rare and special. The peace dove is carrying kalyna berries that come from the Snowball Viburnum plant which is very common in Ukraine and often planted just outside the home because the flower is thought to bring good health and fortune to the family. In Ukraine, they believe the biggest achievement of any nation is it's freedom. That's why they defend it so heroically.
It can take 2 - 3 months before your card lands in the hands of a Defender. Do you wonder how your card is received? With gratitude. And with tears! I would like to share a story I've taken from the Postcards to the Front-Canada newsletter as told by Tamara. She recently visited a wounded Defender in hospital, hand-delivering 4 cards to him. After reading the first couple of sentences of the first card, he had to stop, saying "I will read these later." Tamara could see the tears in his eyes. Some days later, she received a midnight call. Terrified that it was unwelcome news, she answered to hear the voice of her injured 'brother' who had returned to the front lines. He said he had shown the 4 cards to his group and they want more! He said they were all crying! It's remarkable that the cards could make such an impact that they ask for more.

The post cards are blank on the back. Print your message, draw, decorate, whatever you like. Address your cards to 'Defender of Ukraine" or Greetings from Canada". Yes, you can print in English but keep the wording simple as some cannot read English. Any card order from Prairie Reflections Cards will include a sheet of English to Ukrainian translations of popular messages that you can print if you wish to send a postcard printed in Ukrainian. Remind them that they are supported and not forgotten. About 4 or 5 postcards fit in one envelope using a regular domestic postage stamp.
