In the 1970s, Rolex began their production of the Oysterquartz, a range of watches powered by battery. This was to combat the rising quantities and popularity of quartz watches, predominantly in the Asian market. They needed to revive interest in Swiss watchmaking and this was the missing piece to their puzzle.

The Oysterquartz range offers a slightly different look from your standard Rolex. Characteristics, such as an integrated bracelet and angular case were incredibly popular at the time. These features are still sought after till this day and can be seen on many popular watches.

After less than 30 years, Rolex pulled the plug on the Oysterquartz in 2001 and since then, they have been very collectable.

I recently had the opportunity to handle this 18ct Gold Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date 36 from 1987 and I absolutely love it🔥

I recently bought this Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6564 from 1958, originally bought in Hong Kong. It comes with its original bracelet, COSC certificate, Rolex guarantee and purchase receipt.

COSC certificates were given after movements had been submitted to Bureaux Suisses and tested for their timekeeping under specific temperature conditions and angles of incline. By the 1970s, Rolex replaced the Bureaux Suisses certificate with their own version due to greater production.

A proper collectors set and at 65 years old, still looks fantastic🙌
