December 25-th / 2021 will mark exactly 70 years from the creation of the first computer in continental Europe. It was launched on December 25-th, 1951 in Kyiv Ukraine, under the name "Small Electronic Counting Machine" / «Малая Электронная Счетная Машина»rus. It was the "progenitor" of the Personal Computer (PC) not only on the territory of the then former USSR, but also the first device in its class on all the continental Europe.
In total, the complex included 17,468 lamps of 16 different types, 7,200 silicon diodes, 1,500 relays, 70,000 resistors and 10,000 capacitors. Total weight of the system was - 30 tons. The amount of memory cluster was - 20 number-words. Power consumption of the system on steady regime was - 174 kW/h.
The author of the project, scientist and researcher Sergei Lebedev was called "Soviet Alan Turing": his work on computers of a new type, which later formed the basis of MESM and pc computers, Lebedev began in the 30's of XX-th century.
