Nana showing our latest kumara harvest!
This was our first time planting kumara. We kind of neglected them for a while and waited for the leaves to die off. But they still havnt.
Mum decided to dig a couple up and to our suprise we grew the biggest kumara I have ever seen!

Shout out to Sustainability group. Our level is a proud owner of a food scraps bucket!
All the food scraps from the building are placed into compost bins and the soil is used around the university grounds.

Usually for xmas we would buy the pavlova from the supermarket. But I thought, 'why not make our own!'
My first ever homemade pavlova. Made with the eggs from our hens.
Two white cucumbers from our garden!
We had these for xmas lunch/dinner and was especially tasty when pickled.
I added:
1 cup water
1 cup of white vinegar
1 cup of sugar
to a jar then added in sliced cucumber and stored overnight
Our first large tomatoes! and there is still heaps more to come.
Shout out to mum and her gardening skills. We have vegetables coming out of our ears!
86 year old nana spreading ash onto the kumara plants. Plus Clyde watchin on the side lines π
This adds more phosphorus to the soil and you can top it off with compost soil to help the plants to grow.
