RE: “RAPID SURVEY ON PROFILE OF STUDENTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION.”

First of all, we would like to thank you for your support in the conduct of the “Rapid Survey on Reasons for Student Attrition in Higher Education.” Results were shared during the pre-plenary and plenary budget hearings of CHED at the House of Representatives. However, there were still questions asked during the plenary. These were student-level data that we usually do not collect, but may need to collect moving forward in order to determine the appropriate interventions or policies that need to be developed. Thus, in preparation for the budget hearing at the Senate scheduled in October 2023, the Office of Planning, Research, and Knowledge Management (OPRKM) is again conducting a new round of data collection which we call “Rapid Survey on Profile of Students in Higher Education.”
Please request your higher education institutions (HEIs) to participate in the survey by providing the link to the Google form to their undergraduate students. Moreover, please assure your HEIs that we adhere to Republic Act 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and that no personal information of the students shall be shared with other parties. Data collected will be analyzed for the purpose stated above.

CebuTech Barili Campus observes World Su***de Prevention Day 2023 with the theme, “Creating Hope Through Action.”

Su***de is a global public health crisis with significant social, emotional, and economic consequences, claiming over 700,000 lives annually and impacting countless others.

The theme "Creating Hope Through Action" for World Su***de Prevention Day from 2021-2023 emphasizes the importance of proactive efforts to combat su***de. It encourages us to show that there is an alternative to su***de and that we can foster hope and strengthen prevention through our actions.

This theme underscores the role of our actions, no matter how small, in providing hope to those battling suicidal thoughts and demonstrates our care and support for them.

Ultimately, "Creating Hope Through Action" highlights the urgency of addressing su***de as a public health priority and stresses the need for immediate, concrete measures to reduce su***de rates, with the World Health Organization (WHO) committed to partnering with countries in this crucial endeavor.

CTU announces manual enrollment schedules, official start of classes

To address the concerns of the student portal downtime and the official start of classes, the Office of the University President released CTU Memorandum No. PH24-493, s. 2023 last August 24, 2023.

Manual enrollment for all students who are not yet enrolled will commence from August 29 to September 1, 2023. Otherwise, for those students who are already enrolled, they are requested to provide their contact details as well as their parent's or guardians' contact information.

Moreover, according to the memo, the official start of classes will be on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Students who have successfully enrolled will attend their classes on this date.

The general orientation for the official start of classes for the Academic Year 2023-2024 is originally scheduled on Tuesday, but for those campuses who have not finished their enrollment may move the activity on September 4, 2023.

CTU ranks 12th among PH universities in July 2023 Webometrics Ranking

Cebu Technological University ranked 12th among 366 Philippine Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the July 2023 Edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (WRWU).

Moreover, CTU secured the 4814th spot worldwide based on its performance in the following categories: Impact, Openness, and Excellence Ranks.

Out of the three categories, CTU had its highest peak in the Openness Rank or the number of citations from the researchers, placing at 3743rd.

Meanwhile, CTU ranked 4733rd in the Excellence Rank (the number of cited papers across all disciplines and the full databases) and 12196th in the Impact Rank.

WRWU, the largest academic ranking of HEIs, is a program that rates schools and universities worldwide developed by the Spanish National Research Council research group, Cybermetrics Lab.

The ranking aims to encourage open access to the knowledge produced by the University and improve the web performances of universities around the world for better online content and resources.

In preparation for the comeback of the most awaited Intramurals, Cebu Technological University- Barili Campus conducted a Consultative meeting on collegiate athletic competitions yesterday, October 10, 2022, Monday in the CTU Barili Covered court.
Mr. George A. Albarracin, Sir Jessie Christian C. Jumuad, Maam Charity Donozo, Maam Virgie Wee, Miss Lesette Navaluna, the various college directors, department chairs, SSG representatives, class mayors, faculty, staff, and student-athletes were present at the aforementioned gathering.

The individual units, unit names, and unit colors, as well as the many sports and the essential ground rules for each, were covered by Mr. Albarracin, the assistant campus director, and sports coordinator.

He also went through the locations and timetables for the many events that will take place during Intrams week.

More importantly, Mr. Albarracin made sure to cover the subject of how to handle complaints and demonstrations at any of the events.

Additionally, Miss Charity Donozo, the campus nurse, talked about the various health and medical prerequisites that athletes must meet to participate in their particular sports.

The main goal of the meeting is to adequately inform the student-athletes and their respective chairman of the fundamental guidelines that apply to the event, as well as to respond to any queries that may arise.

Mr. Jumuad and his staff worked hard to ensure that the students and the entire CTU-Barili Community would be fully informed about the approaching event, which made the meeting possible.

The Intramurals committee is appreciative of everyone who took the time to attend the meeting and is anticipating a memorable and enjoyable Intrams week.

The 𝘽𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 is the highest governing body of the Cebu Technological University. Its members are drawn from both the University and the private and public sectors including one (1) representative from the students.

As confirmed by the FSG COMELEC Chairman, Hon. Eldon G. Mancao together with his commissioners, here’s the 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 list of our candidates vying for Student Regent and the Federation of Student Governments-CTU, Inc. President.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘: 𝗖𝗦𝗖 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿

Almost 3,500 job vacancies in 131 government agencies will be offered at the Government Online Career Fair (GOCF) organized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in partnership with online job search portal, JobStreet. The fair will take place from 19 to 23 September 2022.

“Vacancies with the minimum qualification standards and application requirements will be posted for the duration of the GOCF. Applicants from the Philippines or even those overseas who are interested to pursue a career in the civil service may participate by submitting their applications online to their selected agencies,” explained CSC Chairperson Karlo A. B. Nograles.

Some of the vacancies that job seekers can apply to are guidance counselors, administrative aides and officers, revenue officers, engineers, midwives, planning officers, project development officers, nurses, instructors, accountants/auditors, executive assistants, information technology officers, among others.

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘫𝘰𝘪𝘯?

The jobseeker must have an account with JobStreet.com. If the jobseeker has no account, he or she must create one by accessing the 2022 GOCF Microsite at http://jobstreet.com.ph/GOCF.

The jobseeker need only to input the email address and click on the "Create your Personal Data Sheet (PDS)" button.

Once registered, the jobseeker may now access the GOCF Microsite, where the Virtual Hirer’s Booth of participating government agencies may be found. Each Virtual Hirer’s Booth contains the available jobs in the agency and has a chat facility to give jobseekers quick access to ask questions or be interviewed on the spot.

Jobseekers can even chat directly with DOLE and PhilHealth regarding their programs and services in the GOCF Microsite.

The agency shall conduct the initial assessment and notify the job applicants through email or text message the status of the application and/or additional instructions or requirements to be complied by the applicant.

Our history as a nation is marked by the blood of our forebears who selflessly offered their lives for the liberation of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

As we honor our National Heroes today, may we not only look back with admiration at their profound sense of patriotism but also look at the future of our country and its unrelenting longing for the same profound sense of patriotism from us.

The blood of our National Heroes is the same blood of bravery, selflessness, and love of country and fellowmen that continues to flow across the nation today —now permeating into the minds and hearts of many Filipinos who have committed to the cause of rebuilding the nation from the rubbles caused by disunity, hatred, misunderstanding, and acts of hostilities perpetuated by anti-people, anti-government, and local terror groups that hostaged the progress of the country for a long time.

As we look back, may we never squander the lessons of the past and instead use them to awaken all the greatest heroes inside the hearts of every Filipino, especially the youth.

Today, let us honor our National Heroes with a promise that their sacrifices will serve as our light and inspiration as we vow to protect the integrity of our independence and the interest of our nation against those who wish for us to fail, to fall, and to break as a nation.
