CHILDREN ARE THE HERITAGE OF GOD AND THE BEACONS OF HOPE FOR OUR NATION, SAYS SIS. OKUBADEJO OLUWATOYIN

SIS. OKUBADEJO OLUWATOYIN ONIMOLE, PRESIDENT YOUTH FELLOWSHIP SHOMOLU/BARIGA DISTRICT has described children as the heritage of God and the beacon of hope for our nation.

She made this known on Friday in commemoration of the Children's day celebration.

Oluwatoyin, IN A BRIEF DISCUSSION WITH THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (P.R.O) of the district said, the wealth of our nation is not so much in economic and natural resources, but lies more decidedly in the kind of quality and wealth of its children and youths.

According to her, the children are the ones who will be the creators and shapers of a nation’s tomorrow. She said, the day is a reminder that every child deserves education, nurturing and the best of everything, stressing that they are the building blocks of the nation and hence, the future of our nation depends how well they are brought up.

Oluwatoyin also said, according to biblical standard, CHILDREN are a gift from God, adding that they are highly important before God.

"They should be brought to Christ. They must be introduced to God very early in life. “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). The time you introduce your children to the teachings of the gospel is when they are young. Do not wait until they have become adults. “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward” (Psalms 127:3), she said.

She further stated, "The Word of God modifies the lives of children positively and makes them useful to God and the society. If you don’t want your children to be a menace to the society, teach them the Word of God. The Bible builds children, making them strong physically and spiritually, to face the trials and challenges ahead. Our children must know how to depend on God for their daily needs. Jesus must be introduced and given to our children, from generation to generation. As an earthly father, you will definitely be called home one day. You must leave Jesus with your offspring, and your offspring must do the same to their offspring. We must continue to pass the baton until the end of time. Abraham also taught Isaac the way of the Lord and Isaac passed these teachings to his seeds. “And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul” (Deu. 40:2). God is our heavenly father. Who’s greater than any earthly parent. We need to rely on Him for wisdom, and in training the kids He has given us. He is our map and compass to navigate this terrible world, full of hurdles and obstacles. You are your children’s number one teacher. Instruct them in the ways of God. God has made you their leader, and you must lead and guide them right. We must raise children who fear God, and observe to do all the words of the scriptures."

Thank you all and God bless.

LENTEN PERIOD DAY 24

Visit the still Waters

Psalms 23:2 "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters"

This particular Psalm is familiar to most people, but have you ever given much thought to the still water and restful water?

I believe this is where you find rest and strength to face the pressure of life. One might say that the still water is Healing water.

The quiet and stillness contains restorative qualities for your soul. The still water is available at all time, but we go there seldomly. Anytime you feel the slightest urge for a few minutes, let's everything get quiet and then bask in the beauty of solitude. Silence can teach us more in a moment than all the noise in the world.

Spend time beside the still water and find peace and rest for your soul.

LENTEN PERIOD DAY 23

Your weakness is God's Opportunity

2 Cor. 12:9 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me".

Do you ever feel hopelessly weak and look down on yourself?

God wants you to know that the only power weakens has over you is the power you give it

Disliking yourself because you have weakness opens door to trouble that can affect many areas of your life, although human weakness is no surprises to God. Infact it's an opportunity for His strength and power to made perfect in your weakness.

As you meditate in the truth of His promise today make a decision that you will not get disturbed about weakness. Do not fail to recognize them as opportunity from God.

Stop grieving over your weakness and start receiving God's strength and power.

LENTEN PERIOD DAY 20

Take up the Easy Yoke

Matthew 11:29 "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls."

There is a life that is superior to any thing the world can offer that no comparison can be made. In order to have that kind of life, you must be willing to be yoked to Christ and learn His way. This means you must stay close to Him and learn how.

HE handles every situation that arise. His ways and thoughts are far superior to yours and you must be willing to abandon yourself to Him and discover what is His Will for your life. Give up being independent and learn to lean and depend on God..

Give Him full reign of your life. In return you will find rest, relief, ease, refreshment, recreation and blessed quiet.

LENT: PERIOD OF REPENTANCE

TITUS 2:3 - The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

INSPIRATION
This is great advice for anyone, but here it is specifically given to older women. They are to have holy character reflecting Jesus. They are not supposed to drink too much or falsely accuse people. Lastly, they are to teach good things. It is interesting that older women are instructed to teach. Knowing they have a lot of wisdom, they are instructed to pass that wisdom on.

PRAYER
Father in Heaven, You are the great teacher. You know all and You teach others Your truths. Help me to grow and mature into a good teacher of Your truth. Instill wisdom in me so that as I age others benefit from knowing me. Help me to have character that is worthy of Your calling and reflects Your holiness. In Jesus' name. Amen.

International Women's Day: C&S Women speaks on IWD2022 theme

International women’s day is marked on March 8 every year to celebrate the very essence of women all over the world. This day marks the importance of why women should be treated equally without any bias or prejudice. According to the IWD’s mission, the day is aimed to create awareness about the significant roles women play all over the world and to implement strategies to achieve gender inclusion in all sectors. This year’s theme for international women’s day is , this is to call the world to be free of bias, discrimination, stereotypes about female folks. As the world celebrates, our team at Seraph stories chatted with a few outstanding women in the C&S fold on the year’s IWD theme and the value of women. These are their views:

Prophetess Bukola E. Adisa (Founder of Grevo Ministry)

calls on people to work towards a world that is equitable, inclusive, and free from bias and discrimination so the playing field is leveled for women moving forward. Women should be given the opportunity to be at centre of our planning, integration into global and national laws and policies.

On the value of women, we are the primary caretakers of children and elders of every country. We are called to take the lead in helping the family adjust to new realities and challenges. Without women, this world can not settle.

Adegboyega Grace Yemisi (CEO AGY Events Management)

Value for women means value for Life and its entirety as that's the first and best teacher we all come across in life. Gone are the days when we used to relegate women to the kitchen and bearing children only, now we are breaking the bias and we are doing it strongly. Business-wise, Financially, Psychologically, Socially, Spiritually, and in all spheres of life, a woman's impact cannot and should not be negated.

Oluwatoyin Akeke (A prolific writer)

The theme "Breaking the bias" is a standpoint against all forms of gender inequality, women and girl-child abuse, and nondiscrimination in whatever form and ways. In Numbers 27: 1 - 7, the daughters of Zelophehad of the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, came to Moses to file a complaint about the inheritance of their father being withheld from them.

According to the earlier regulations, properties were to be inherited by heirs of the families who were male. But these 5 women were not having it."We are children from this tribe too", they groaned. They stood before Moses and refused to leave until he attended to their cause. And Moses, seeing that the women were determined and not ready to be dismissed, went before the Lord to inquire. He asked, " Lord, what should I do?" And the Lord answered him "the daughters of Zelophehad are right, Give them their father's possessions!" And straightway, The Bias was broken. These five strong women stood their ground against the legitimation of a limited right of Israelite women to inherit the land.

And in Joshua 17: 5 - 6, the scripture established that Manasseh's lot came to ten portions, in addition to the land of Gilead and Bashan on the other side of the Jordan, because Manasseh's daughters got an inheritance along with his sons..READMORE...
