Due to the threat of severe weather on Friday, January 12, 2024, the Muscle Shoals City Schools will be closed. All extracurricular activities for Friday, January 12 are also cancelled. We are monitoring potential wintry weather early next week that may include precipitation and freezing temperatures.

Pre-registration for Alabama's First Class PreK at the Muscle Shoals Early Learning Center for 2024-25 opens on January 15, 2024. A visit from The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who today, plus cookies and chocolate milk while watching “The Grinch” movie… There is NOTHING more magical than Christmas with tiny people! Today we welcomed LOTS of guests from the classes of Mrs. Carr, Mrs. Steen, and Mrs. Pettus for Christmas lunch . The activity center and Mrs. Steen’s classroom were beautifully decorated by our amazing parents and the food was absolutely delicious! Thank you to everyone who joined us!!

Today, we celebrated our sweet friend, Colin. His mom and dad told us all about Emanuel Syndrome. We learned the importance of being kind to EVERYONE, especially those who are different from us. We’re so excited to grow up alongside Colin. 💙💜

Our faculty has spent the last few days in Mobile at ADECE’s Early Childhood Conference. We have learned SO much from some amazing presenters. We are excited to see our tiny Trojans on Monday and use all the cool new strategies we learned at the conference. We’ve missed our kiddos. See you on Monday, Trojans! 📚

Today, we welcomed the MSHS cheer team for our very own homecoming pep rally! We cheered along with the fight song, shook our shakers, and yelled with the cheerleaders. Thank you to Coach Valerie Willis for bringing the girls to the MSELC. GO TROJANS!!

Grandparents truly are GRAND! We had so much fun today with “Popsicles on the Playground.” Our sweet grands and other special guests joined us for Kona Ice and playtime on a beautiful day at MSELC! We ❤️ our tiny Trojans so much!

“Pickles” greeted our tiny Trojans this morning as they arrived for school! Pickles is the class pet in Mrs. Pettus’s and Ms. Kim’s classroom. Our students are learning about hedgehogs and the important skill of how to care for a living thing. ❤️

Today, we had an unexpected fire alarm that caused a bit of fear among our tiny Trojans right at dismissal time! 🚒 We usually spend several days preparing for the ear piercing sound of the alarm before practicing our drill procedures, but we weren’t able to do that before today’s alarm. Most importantly, all is WELL and our babies handled it like champs. We’ll reassure them tomorrow and prepare them for our drills so they aren’t nervous next time. Thank you, parents, for your patience during the pick up process today. We love your babies so much! And, thank you to the Muscle Shoals fire department for your quick response. ❤️

Day 1 of the 2023-24 school year is in the books! We loved meeting our PreK girls. We’re looking forward to seeing the boys tomorrow. BIG DREAMS start right here at the MSELC. ❤️
