Brandon’s Surgery

Sorry to have been absent. Swelling almost gone, black eye all but gone, other facial bruise completely gone. So we are finished with this surgery! Follow up with ENT 7/1. Next up sleep study 8/5!
Lots of new neuro and ortho stuff happening. Updates soon.

Very swollen and bruised.

Only once we got home could I appreciate how bruised he got in surgery 😕

Little bit of blood from mouth and nose, little bit of post-surgical fever, little bit of discomfort, very minimal anxiety thank heaven. As always, cute as a button.

Finally just got taken back. Fell asleep waiting .

They decided to pre-admit him…so we are here 11th floor room 34.

Brandon has a few procedures forthcoming:

May 22: 4 wisdom teeth extraction with one extra molar on the top right also being extracted due to the top right wisdom tooth impacting it as well. During this same anesthesia, sinus surgery with nasal turbinate reduction with the best ENT for my money anyway. This is at Nationwide Children’s and the plan is to stay one overnight.

August 5: sleep study at nationwide children’s.

November 4: orthopedic surgery at Cincinnati Children’s again.

Also we are traveling monthly for his medical appointments to program his brain device. Slow going but positive change is happening (as you saw in the just now previous post).

It’s been a while. Here is a positive change. Brandon sitting with both feet flat on the floor. I’ve not seen this in literal years. Hooray!
Another update right on the heels but I wanted this to stand on its own.

ASAP is relative. First proposed surgery date *might* be May 22 if they can get the OR and the other surgeon….he’s been in pain since January…though maybe not as severely as he originally believed. Anyways, I countered with the week of June 3 because why not let him get done with school? And what’s another 2 weeks, especially if this date is so tentative we don’t have an OR or the second surgeon?!
