Today, we honor the life and legacy of St. John Eudes, whose profound wisdom and unwavering faith continue to inspire us. Born on November 14, 1601, in the small village of Ri, Normandy, France, St. John Eudes emerged from humble beginnings as the son of a farmer. Despite facing numerous challenges, he enrolled in the Jesuit college in Caen at just 14 years old, demonstrating an early commitment to his education and spiritual growth.
In 1623, driven by a deep sense of vocation and despite his parents' initial resistance, he made the courageous decision to join the Congregation of the Oratory of France. At the age of 24, he was ordained as a priest. Throughout his life, St. John Eudes exemplified resilience and dedication, embodying the belief that enduring periods of darkness and struggle prepare us for moments of profound enlightenment and grace. May his example of perseverance and devotion guide us in our own journeys.
