Discipleship comes down to three steps:
1. BECOME a disciple
2. GROW in your discipleship
3. GO and make more disciples
As leaders, our job is to teach people how to be successful at each step!
What does it mean to "make disciples"? And how do you do it within the context of the local parish?
On this episode, we're speaking with Jim Jansen, author of a book titled, "A Clear Path: How to Make Missionary Disciples in Your Parish." In this book, Jim seeks to provide a clear path of discipleship and to equip you with the tools to create a tangible action plan for building that path.
This podcast conversation will share insights to equip you as leaders, along with your team, to have a practical, clear plan for making missionary disciples in your own parish context.

Six False Beliefs that Block Effective Communication:
1️⃣ Information is at the heart of communication.
-> We often assume that communication is all about the information that we're sharing. But what if it's more about trust and connection rather than simply information?
2️⃣ We should share information with everyone at once.
-> The way we communicate is incredibly important. Sharing information with the right people at the right TIME is essential. It might be faster to share information widely, but it's not always effective.
3️⃣ Once you communicate something, your job is done.
-> Saying something once doesn't mean it lands in an effective way. The bigger the idea, the more time it takes to facilitate it well. As leaders, we often need to communicate things multiple times in multiple ways.
4️⃣ If people complain, you're doing something wrong.
-> No matter how great our communication is, there will always be people complaining that they didn't know. This isn't always a sign that our communication is missing the mark. We have to look at the bigger picture and understand what's really at the heart of the complaints.
5️⃣ Communication belongs to a person or department.
-> Many leaders assume that all their communication problems would be solved if they just hire a communications person. Oftentimes, this isn't the case - you just have someone to blame for the problems.
6️⃣ It's the leader's responsibility to make sure communication takes place.
-> While, in essence, this may be true at a high level, it's not only on the leader to ensure that effective communication takes place. It's everyone's responsibility to take ownership of communicating information in the right place at the right time.
Want to become more effective in your ministry communication? We're unpacking these six beliefs in depth on episode 150 of the Huntley Leadership Podcast. Listen now: https://youtu.be/3iUplHa2ngU
Communication is an essential part of leadership. In the parishes we coach, one of the most common concerns that leaders raise is the issue of poor communication.
If we don't get communication right, it's incredibly difficult to be effective in any other aspect of the work we're doing.
On this week's podcast, Ron is unpacking six reasons that people are often unable to get communication right. Maybe you're struggling with one, or several, of these barriers to effective communication. This podcast will give you tangible tips to communicate in a more impactful way within your church or ministry.

When navigating tough conversations around topics such as gender identity, we often default to trying to point to facts and "win the debate."
Ultimately, this doesn't lead to progress. It's more likely to lead to division and further hurt.
On this week's podcast, Jason Evert suggested that it's better to begin by seeking to understand where the person is coming from, and what their own experience has been.
When people know we genuinely care about them more than we care about being "right," we're able to connect and begin to break down the barriers.

Asking people to share their witness stories can be awkward. How do we help people share their stories in a way that makes an impact on the people around them?
Here are three components to draw out an impactful testimony:
1️⃣ What was it like BEFORE?
For example: What was it like before you started that ministry? What was it like before you met Jesus? What was it like before you attended Alpha?
2️⃣ What happened that made an impact?
What SPECIFICALLY changed? How did Jesus make a difference in your life?
3️⃣ What has it been like since?
How is life different now because of Jesus? How have things changed because of what you experienced?
There's power in sharing stories of lives being changed! That's why this week's podcast is all about how to create a witness culture in our parishes. Check out episode 147 of the Huntley Leadership Podcast wherever you listen!

This podcast seeks to equip you with the tools to begin having these crucial conversations, and to really live out the Great Commission in everyday life!

Kindness and conflict are not mutually exclusive.
If you plan to do anything significant, conflict will be a given.
