In the midst of the Holiday Festivities, this day always brings me to a halt.

18 years ago I was three weeks shy of my 18th birthday when life wholly changed. Mark was a bright a light who loved a stage, an artist who played in multiple mediums, and my dad. I miss him everyday, but feel closer to him through my art. 💙

Let’s learn some Pottery Terms together!

We are starting with the foundation of pottery - the clay body! The industry uses “clay body” to refer to what outsiders know as simply “clay”. We do this because our materials are made of more than just natural clay to ensure consistency, durability and a number of other features.

Clay bodies come in a variety of colors, textures, and firing temperatures. (We’ll cover more about these in the future.)

Here at WhiteMark Ceramics, I use an off-white stoneware clay body.
