Abba Gida-Gida Will Revisit Sanusi’s Dethronement – Kwankwaso

Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has said the incoming government in Kano will revisit the dethronement of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, 14th Emir of Kano.

Sanusi, who became emir in the final term of Kwankwaso as governor, was dethroned by outgoing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who was deputy governor at the time the monarch was installed.
Sanusi was removed on March 9, 2020, and also banished from Kano and sent to Loko, a remote community in Nasarawa State, while the expenses of the emirate under him were probed.

Ganduje had also split the emirate into five and appointed emirs who were at par.
But speaking in a viral video, Kwankwao said the dethronement and balkanisation of the emirate would be reviewed by the government of Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor-elect, who is popularly known as Abba Gida-Gida.
“We have campaigned and as you know we are popular in Nigeria especially in Kano state, we are now back and God willing we will continue with the good works our administration left. This incoming governor and his team will take them up.”
As elders, we will continue to advise them to do the right thing. We tried not intervene in the issue of bringing or removing any Emir, but now, an opportunity has come.

“Those who were given this opportunity will sit down and see to the issues. They will look at what they are expected to do. Beside the Emir, even the emirate has been divided into five places. All these need to be studied. Usually a leader inherits good, bad and issues that are hard to reconcile.”

He further prayed for God’s intervention to allow the incoming governor to be able to handle things easily.

Peter Obi Calls For Unity, New Nigeria
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi has called for unity and a new Nigeria.

He was speaking on Friday at the second edition of the handshake across Nigeria themed Building Bridges for a new Nigeria, organised by Nzukọ Umunna, an Igbo socio-cultural group.

“We need a new Nigeria. A Nigeria where people who are sons of nobody would be great, live well, have a job, and earn a living. That is all we want and I am sure Nzuko Umunna on their own will play their part. We would continue to play our part,” he said during the event in Enugu.
However, he noted that the new Nigeria won’t come with ease as those he claimed are holding the country won’t let go easily.

For the keynote speaker, Mike Ozeokhome (SAN), there must be an investment in skills, advancement of technology, the establishment of pilot projects, and involvement of international agencies amongst others if the handshake must happen.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State was also at the event.

1993 Alleged Drug Case in US Not Against Tinubu but Funds in His Account - APC Tells Tribunal

Following the petition by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded Nigerian General elections, Mr Peter Obi challenging the declaration of the All Progressives Congress APC Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has opened up on circumstances that led Tinubu to forfeit the sum of $460,000 to the government of the United States of America, USA, in 1993.

The ruling party, in processes it filed to defend the outcome of the election that was held on February 25, maintained that Tinubu, merely surrendered funds in 10 bank accounts that were opened in either his name or that of Compass Finance and Investment Co.

It told the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT, sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, that funds in the said accounts, which were domiciled in both First Heritage Bank and Citi Bank N. A, were subject to a “civil forfeiture proceeding” in Case No: 93C4483.

According to the APC, the purported decision of the United State District Court Northern District of Illinois, Eastern division in the said case, was not a fine but a decree of forfeiture of the amount of $460,000 to the United State pursuant to the settlement of claim by the parties to the case.

“The said decision is not against the 2nd Respondent (Tinubu) but against the funds in the various account opened in the name of Bola Tinubu with First Heritage Bank and City Bank N.A.

“The compromise terms that led to the forfeiture were preceded by express admission on record that the 2nd Respondent did not admit the commission of any drug, drug-related or illicit conduct of dishonesty or fraud that fits into any of the grounds of disqualification to contest for office of president of Nigeria at the 25th February, 2023 general election,” APC insisted.

It listed the 10 account numbers that contained funds that Tinubu forfeited after the settlement of claim by parties involved in the case, as: 263226700, 39483134, 39483396, 4650279566, 00400220, 39936404, 39936383, 52050-894519
