Blockbuster "2" DVD and Misc. Rentals

Comparing and contrasting the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie with the original 1988 version which I adore...

Typically I do not like most sequels being released for no other reason than a Hollywood money grab and wished to dear god that the madness would one day end on so many reboots and so many sequels being released as of late!

But this sequel was so worth it and I am glad they made a 2nd installment! (After all this time even!)

Bob is a hoot and the movie presents so many new crazy dead characters. There was so much talk leading up on Keaton only having the same air time as the 1st one at about 17 mins but with the nice flow and the fun new story, and hilarious new characters, it seems like he is always present!

Beetlejuice 1988: is a 9 out of 10 all day long and with no cgi and with its limited special effects to its time.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 2024: got a nice well deserved grade by me of a very solid 8.5! The sandworm guy really fit the cgi bill!

At the movies it sometimes is difficult trying to tune out some of the other selfish, inconsiderate patrons who make way too much loud snacking noises and loud crinkles etc and or they yap far too much and such was the case tonight at Grand 10 for about the first 20% of the film! But this time I said to myself that I cannot change such idiots so I told myself to just try harder to tune them out and I did! Most movie going patrons are great and respectful but when a big movie comes out and the place fills up, I get stressed a bit leading up to start of movie knowing that numbers on idiots never lie! (Based on past experiences). Math is math and the more the theater fills up, the more chance on the "inconsiderates" showing up too! I am just one person who cannot just change the world to the good myself all alone, and I did what I knew best and that was to yell over at one point to nicely, yet firmly say: "quiet now, stop talking, movie ON!" That did seem to help this time a BIT! Just a bit!

Apparently/allegedly I was the very first person in Kelowna BC to get this heavy duty, great condition popcorn bowl and it was the most expensive popcorn deal I had ever paid in my life at $37! That is what I was told as I arrived early and it was the first showing ever for this film. Typically I am much more frugal when it comes to snack buying! I guess I just had to have that collector's tub! (: Still wrapped for now!

Todd Phillips does not get nearly enough directing credit! The guy is only amazing with his vision!
Yes he won for Joker and most deserved big time as Joker is a rare 10 plus out of 10 but Todd really should be asked to take on more awesome projects! The script was weak for Hangover 3 and yet he still turned it into at least watch worthy at an average score. The Hangover is and always will be in my top 10 all time comedies!
Old School is a movie I can easily watch each 2 yrs and never be bored of! In my top 50 comedies all time Old School is!

I tried to like this! I really did. I went in with high hopes and loved the dvd box art as I bought this movie off Ebay. I gave it an honest exact 1 hr chance!
Was amazing to see authentic tanks but the action scenes and death scenes were quite bad to the 1 hr mark so had to quit watching. Even for an older movie it was quite bad and I considered the time stamp to it all so I have to blame the direction.
Some of the acting too was suspect but Henry Fonda was cool as usual. Surprisingly Telly Savalas was so silly even for 1965's standards.
Unfortunately I will have to add it to my sell pile!

Here are the real reasons why renting movies became almost totally defunct!..(there are very few rental places left out there like Willow Video In Langley!)
..

-People in general now are just so darn LAZY!
-So very many people/most could not just figure out how to alphabetize their movies and have binders to allow for easier title finds and to take up way less space in their home!
-Most people do not realize how very little of selections Netflix and Crave and Prime offer us and yet most people do not seem to care to watch the same titles over and over again! And all titles are super depending on what is offered to us by these "bully" platforms!
-People cannot just get out of their cars! (Have you seen Starbucks line-ups in the early ams?)
-People, most, have simply lost the ability to interact with others!

I have over 1200 titles to rent! All discs are cleaned and the grand list is alphabetized to make it easy to find all the titles not offered by Netflix, etc! Less than digital rents too! And no late fees! If you like the idea of dvd's to be delivered, please send me a PM to find out on titles, etc.

Thanks for the odd new like as of late! Trying to gain interest from those who like retro and good mems of the past has been a bit of a battle so far.

BUT...

Just a reminder that I have 1100 titles all CLEANED nicely and organized alphabetically and ready to be rented by 3rd week of March/22!

Another reminder that many game systems have dvd playing capability such as...
-PS2 to PS5
-Xbox 360 to Xbox One
(I think even Playstation 1?)

Movies are rented out and delivered for a full week plus a day, (Sun to Sun), and there are specials for 2-4 titles rented at same time for a week.

Newest movie review in!...

Was enjoyable throughout and well acted but the ending lost me somewhat as there was no closure and no recap that could have easily happened to not make us guess so much. This is a director's fault. I would have then given this movie an 8 rather than a 6.5 of 10 rating. I did not even know this movie had existed until coming across it by fluke only yesterday and watching same day. Interesting and well acted but with a weak ending!

Up to over 700 titles to choose from now! So very many titles are not on Netflix or Amazon Prime!!! All titles are ones most have heard of too!
