Rich Nolan for Deptford Council

Running for Deptford Town Council 2021,
Former Chairman of Deptford Republican Executive Committee, I'm excited to bring some new energy to the town council.

I was and still am unhappy with the way the government is being run and the incumbents that keep the status quo. In 2019 I set out to start changing things and started back up the long dead Deptford Republican Committee. After serving as Chairman of the newly reborn Deptford Republican Executive Committee for a 2 year term I have decided to pass on the torch and run for a Town Council seat. There

Early voting starts this weekend, the election is 2 weeks away. I still have literature bags to pack, areas to canvas, calls to make, signs to hand out and yet I find myself volunteering to help the tornado cleanup efforts. Win or loose, election season or not, I always put my community and neighbors first. This is why I decided to run for council. To help the community. There is still a ton of work to be done even a month after the storm. The volunteers have gotten very little help from our township. Please keep that in mind when you go in the voting booth. Deptford needs a real leader. Help me be that leader.

18/10/2021

With fresh council people come fresh new ideas and an open mindset and we believe that turnover is good and it takes a community to run a town. We promise to always keep an open mind to ideas that fellow council members and residents have regardless of their political affiliation. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing some ideas we have had about making the town a better place for everyone. These ideas are not campaign promises but simply things we would like to bring to the table for discussion.

One of my ideas:
We would like to see the town facilitate a “free” flea market, or “Free Market concept.” Possibly seasonal in the fall and spring, through the summer months or even year round. There has been an explosion in popularity of the “buy nothing” or “pay nothing” groups on facebook. They provide a great service to the community in that they help recycle goods by finding them a home verses being thrown away. In thinking “one man's trash is another man's treasure”, lots of used clothes, furniture, and toys are repurposed. We envision using a large field, parking lot, or similar where people can sign up and bring their unwanted items for others to use. When the market opens everything is free! People in need can come and get things they might need, children can sort through toys and find something that interests them and everyone wins. The idea is to reduce, reuse, and recycle where gently used items will find a new home.

What are your thoughts on this idea? What ideas do you have to make the town a better place to live? Remember small changes can make a big difference!

I'm excited to work to bring back Deptford Day and make our local events about Deptford and not "the mayor and council"

Who wants to see Deptford day brought back?

Let's work together to not only bring back Deptford Day but to "build it back better"

The last post on the Deptford Day page for those of you who forgot.
"It is with heavy and saddened hearts that we are forced to announce the discontinuation of Deptford Day.

In a meeting with Mayor Paul Medany last night (Tuesday, December 8), it was confirmed to our chairman that Deptford Day will no longer be supported by Mayor and Council or the Township. Reasons given included the cost to the Township of the Public Works, and Parks & Recreation employees before, during and after the event, as well as the added police officers needed for the day of.

As many of you may have heard from some of our recent Facebook posts in the attempt to save Deptford Day, this cancellation has nothing to do with a lack of committee members, volunteers for the event, fund raising support or interest from township and area residents. In fact, each of these things were on the rise over the last few years with major plans in the works for the best year ever in 2016. Instead, the Mayor has stated his preference for a "community day" to replace Deptford Day. It would be similar to and in conjunction with the "Mayor Medany and Council's neighborhood Bar-B-Que's" that have taken place over the last few years. Namely the one in August held at Fasola Park, the same location as Deptford Day. The committee has not been informed of the exact differences there will be, if any from the current BBQ events.

The Deptford Day Committee would like to sincerely thank everyone involved in Deptford Day over the past 42 years. Without the many, many helping hands, volunteers, vendors, participants, entertainers, and most importantly the residents who showed their support by coming out year after year after year. We thank you so much! We will miss you every third Saturday in May.

In respect for the overwhelming support and memories, photos and commentary on Deptford Day, we will keep the page up and running indefinitely. The website however will come down when it expires in March 2016.

Please feel free to address your comments or questions regarding the cancellation of Deptford Day to the Office of the Mayor at the Deptford Township Municipal Building. You can find information on how to contact Mayor Medany on the township website www.deptford-nj.org, or you may address Mayor Medany or any of the Council members directly at the next Council Meeting on Monday, December 14 at 7pm at the Municipal Building court room.

Thank you again for your overwhelming support!

It was nice to attend the storm relief barbecue today in Jericho. Seeing the community come together and clean up the tornado damage the past few weeks was heartwarming.
I have worked with volunteers from all over cutting up trees and helping people in need. There was more than 50 volunteers and residents at one time all helping out in Jericho on Labor Day.
It was great to see some of these people out again enjoying themselves.
I would have liked to see the council use this barbecue as a call to action to gather more volunteers to Jericho, Deptford Terrace, and Hammon heights this weekend.
They could have had sign up sheets for people who still need assistance. I sat with an 80 yr old lady who still has a backyard full of downed trees. I am passing her info on so she will get help.
There is still a lot of work to be done. This victory party was premature but appreciated.

It warmed my heart today to see everyone come out and help clear trees in the Jericho section of Deptford. I didn't organize the cleanup but I was happy to help. It was a pleasure to work with everyone. We helped a lot of people. If we missed you please message me or call/ text me 6093849291 and I will pass your info on or see if I can get a crew together.

What a great event last night at the Summit City winery in Glassboro! I'm always happy to show my support for our wonderful county commissioner candidates Nick Delsilvio and Chris Konowel. Nobody will fight harder to lower our county taxes. This guys are the real deal.

30/05/2021

Why is everything in town sponsored by the mayor and council? Are they paying out of pocket? No, remember it's the deptford tax payers that are responsible for these improvements not them.

08/05/2021

I had a great day pounding the pavement and handing out literature for Jack with Robin Vance and Clyde Cook. We met a ton of excited republicans in Deptford. I can't wait to get out and walk again.
Make sure you vote in the primary and write in Clyde Cook for senate! He needs your vote to continue on to the general election.

My cards are in! I'm so excited to get the opportunity to run for Deptford Town Council!

What if I told you, the town council doesn't have to be the same, old, yes men running the town every single year?

What if i told you, that it is possible for YOU to vote for our own Mayor?

What if I told you that all it takes to get some fresh new energy on council is your vote!

What we need is simple

Customer Service
And
Transparency

Let's treat the taxpayers like customers
Not just numbers
You pay your taxes every quarter, year after year.
You are paying for a service.
Are you happy with that service?
If you could make a switch to another provider would you?
It is going to be our job to provide you with that service in the most efficient and cost effective way possible while also making sure you are happy with the services that we are providing you.

When issues and problems arise we need to fix them.
When a homeowner has an issue,
We Will NOT give them the runaround.
We will fix it!

When someone has a question about an ordinance or how we are governing we need to listen to them and respond in the most respectful way possible.

We need to make sure that every ordinance is explained in an easy to read and easy to understand manner.

We need to make sure that you know where your money is being spent.
Every, Single, Dollar.

When was the last time you knew what was going on with the local government?

We will not rely on OPRA requests or expect you to navigate a large cluttered website.

We will accomplish this by ACTIVELY pushing out this information and pushing for attendance at our council meetings.

You will know what are we working on,

You will know what we are spending money on,

You will know whats going on!

We are here to change the way the government sees you.

We are here to serve you.

Look, Deptford is an awesome place, together we can make it even better.

We need you to vote,

We need your neighbors to vote,

Tell your neighbors,
Tell your friends,
Tell your pets!

Everyone needs to hear about this!

Change isnt just coming to Deptford, it is here.

Vance, McDonough, Aber, Nolan for Deptford Township Council!

Just got back from voting in the fire election. Everyone needs to go do this today! The new voting machines are sooooo cool! They are digital touch screen and they print a paper ballot. You can look at the ballot to verify its correct and then you hit send and the ballot goes and gets stored in the machine. Super cool and safe. Hats off to the BOE. These voting machines make sense.

20/04/2021

Don't forget to vote in the local fire election today!

In person at your local fire house between 2-8pm

The candidates have both done a great job keeping Deptford safe and our fire service running smoothly.

Deptford has a large core of volunteer fire fighters. This helps keep our fire tax low. Please vote yes on the budget so our volunteers have the resources they need. This fire budget will not increase the fire tax.

Tonight I asked the council 2 questions. Question 1 was if they had any plans or news for the 3 million dollars in covid stimulus Deptford is supposed to receive. We have asked this same question for 3 meetings now.
As of tonight they still have no information for us on that.
I told them that Governor Murphy signed into legislation a requirement that all the police officers in NJ have body cams by June 1st. I asked them what their plan was for this and if they had looked into it at all. The Deptford police currently arent equipped with body cams.
No answer to my question.
I was then told that I cannot ask questions only make comments.
When Martin, Dave, Robin and I are elected to council we will be making some changes. We will answer your questions to the best of our ability. If we cannot answer it in that moment we will certainly have an answer by the next meeting. We will serve you as politely and honestly as possible. We plan on changing a lot of things but this will happen day one. We are volunteering to serve Deptford citizens, not rule over them.
