Hot day, letโ€™s goooo!

08/07/2024

Definitely keeping an eye on the weather this week, pressure for pythium will be VERY high.

Do not - do not - do not - water in the afternoon or evening! Once per day maximum early morning only

Over watering this week could destroy your lawn overnight if pythium sets in ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Getting scheduled for Round 1! These pins are a majority of current clientele. As of March 2024 I can currently only accept:
โœ… Neighbor of current customer
โœ… Goffstown resident
โœ… Bedford resident

13/03/2023

My promise to all customers has always been when I reach maximum capacity for one person, I will not take any more customers. That time is upon us. I will still accommodate:

๐Ÿฆซ 2022 Clients renewing
๐Ÿฆซ 2022 SGS Turf clients renewing
๐Ÿฆซ Candidates on the same street as current client
๐Ÿฆซ Client referral in our service area
๐Ÿฆซ Goffstown & Bedford on a case-by-case basis

I put a lot of effort into: Response times, scheduling around weather, and allotting adequate time to do the job right. By limiting the number of clients, I will be able to continue providing a level of service that is above and beyond industry standards.

Thank you!

Walking or putting a machine on a lawn like this would be a big mistake! At this time turf is still soft and will be hardening off for winter. Weight on the frosty grass will kill the top growth. You could have tire tracks / foot prints for a month or even until spring ๐Ÿ˜ณ
See comments for an example

This guy is worth a follow. Sorry about the bad news

Nothing significant on the horizon other than the possibility of some thundershowers tomorrow for northern Maine.

I do want to talk about our current drought. The new map is in from NOAA and things do not look good. The long-term outlook also does not look good. We are seeing a large uptick in dry conditions across our region, and across the country for that matter. Many areas already have their yearly summer water restrictions in place, and this is not going to help.
The next "chance" of rain for us, and a good soaking rain at that is not until the 13th, and that is only a less than 5% chance at this point.

"But what about all the rain we got from the thunderstorms and the showers the other night?"
Let's talk about that quickly. I will repeat what I went over last year for the new folks.
Our ground is like a sponge. With regular precipitation, it is moist and regularly absorbs moisture. When you go through long periods between precipitation, it takes more consistent water to finally allow it to absorb again.
Take your kitchen sponge for example. Brand new out of the package it is slightly moist, and you can soak it and wring it out no issue. It saturates quickly and has no trouble absorbing water.
Now take that same sponge and leave it out on the counter for a few days. Put it under the water for a few seconds and take it away. The top portion may be a little wet, but overall, the sponge is still dry, especially in the middle. Now take that sponge and let the water run over it for about a minute. You will notice that the longer the water runs over it, the more it begins to absorb again and before long, the whole sponge is saturated again.
The earth is the same as the sponge. The quick showers, while maybe helping your garden out a little on the immediate surface, are not penetrating and reaching the water table. "But we got an inch and a half of rain the other day". While beneficial to the top layer, most of that quick large amount of water ends up as runoff and eventually ends up in the rivers, lakes, and ocean. We need long, slow rain to allow the soil to absorb it.
