Sharing the statement of Francine Eloisa Ponce about Seventh-Day Adventist.
--------------------------------------------
"We Seventh-Day Adventist, specifically the students from non-adventist schools often received these common questions.
âDi pwede mag sacrifice mo, bahalag karon lang?â
âDaghanag bawal sa inyoha uy!â
âWhole day jud mo magsimba? Di mo kapuyon ana?â
âAy, ingon ana diay mo mga Sabadista?â
Many people addressed us Adventist as SABADISTA because of the thought that we worship during Sabbath (Saturday) and mao na pud ilang naandan nga madungog sa ubang tao. As a born Adventist, I corrected those people whom I know nga ginatawag mig Sabadista, pero you know the tiring part? Balik-balikon namo nag explain sa lain lain pud nga tao because somehow they are curious and others just want to know. Kapoy ba jud?
We worship God every Sabbath as what Exodus 20:8 says and what God commanded from the Ten Commandments (Sabbath; fourth commandment). We always tell to our friends, classmates, teachers and even acquaintance, about how important Sabbath is. Pero still naa gihapon mag ask, âDi pwede mag sacrifice mo, bahalag karon lang?â labi na kay related pa jud sa school works or projects. Di man namo gina express amoang emotions, but truthfully saying, sakit pud baya pamalandungon. Sakit nga naa pa gihapon di gusto mosabot, naa gihapon mga offensive nga pangutana ug naa gihapon mamugos bisag di jud pwede, but still we remained humble and ginasabot ang sitwasyon. Kapoy ba jud?
Even ang pag simba nga whole day, mag ask ang uban. So we share it to them para ilaha pud masabtan. From sunset of Friday, it is already considered as a sacred day, thatâs why we shouldnât do, engage nor talk about things that is worldly related, and when Sabbath ends, sunset of Saturday, thatâs the time that we will continue our works. If only everyone knows how relaxing it is to rest for the whole day inside the church without worries. Di man literal nga rest nga we will just sleep for the whole day, but the rest that we do, is to rest in Him through worshipping in holy Sabbath. Isnât it worth it? Kapoy ba jud?
And of course the highlight question weâve always heard, âAy, ingon ana diay mo Sabadista?â. One mistake of a person can affect the whole church members. Why? Because they thought Adventist were made in one blood and that we are all the same in doings, in words, in actions and in attitudes. Our beloved friends, we are still different. Never drag down the religion just because you saw the flaws of the church members. We know, humans are not perfect. Are we Adventist humans? Yes! we are. We make mistakes every now and then thatâs why we go to church to renew our relationship to God.
Itâs not the religion friends,so never blame it. We all have stains and only through Christ Jesus nga kita mahimong putli sama sa usa ka nyebe.
PANGUTANA: Kapoy ba mahimong Adventista? Tubag, dili. Kay usa kini ka dakong panalangin nga kami makapadasig sa uban.
The point of this is to tell that we should open our hearts and minds to the word RESPECT. Respect each otherâs beliefs and practices. We may have different religions, but we only give back the Glory and Praises to God/Allah/Messiah/Jehovah."
