Though it might seem like Summer School just started, we are now at the midpoint of full-credit courses and the end of half-credit courses. There has been some great learning happening over these weeks and we congratulate the students for their efforts and commitment to their studies.

Students enrolled in full-credit courses (i.e., Senior English and Summer Coop) will receive a progress report email today. This midterm mark communicates the progress students are making toward achievement of the curriculum expectations of the course. Students should apply teacher feedback and suggestions for improvement for the remainder of the course.

Students enrolled in half-credit courses for Term 1 of Summer School (i.e., Careers and Civics) will receive their final marks early next week by email. Secondary Provincial Report Cards will be available in August. More details to follow on how to access these reports.

On Monday, we start Term 2 for half-credit courses and welcome students who will be joining us for either Careers or Civics! Be sure to log into D2L on the morning of July 18.

We are going to miss our students and this wonderful year that we have had together! From of all of us at Blessed Carlo Acutis, we wish you a happy and safe summer!

As we wrap up Catholic Education Week, we are reminded through children's artwork using scriptural passages, words, phrases, and images that we are Renew-Restore-Rejuvenate

06/05/2022

In Blessed Carlo's spirit of being inclusive and filled with hope, our school is promoting celebrating diversity, equity, and inclusion with our “With Love, From Blessed Carlo…Colour Our World” project.
Earlier this year, we were awarded the inaugural Steve Mavers Award in the LUSO Community Services Video Contest for the Making Our Mark to End Racism video and book project. The award recognizes a submission that strongly exhibits three areas: inclusivity, community building, and continued learning.
Through the prize money, each Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board school received a copy of the book this week for their libraries. In addition, each elementary school received skin-tone crayons and pencil crayons for their classrooms as a way to continue the learning and colour our world.

Congratulations to Izabella C who is this year's recipient of the Catholic Trustees' Leadership Award! This award is presented annually during Catholic Education Week. The criteria for the award are rooted in the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectation. With such a friendly and accepting demeanor, Izabella demonstrates Catholic Leadership to the other students at Blessed Carlo Acutis and will continue to do so as she heads off to St. Anne’s next year.

Congratulations to Kylie F, Hailey C, and Quynnton T who are Blessed Carlo's recipients of the Applause Awards this year. These awards recognize the efforts and achievements of students whose presence and actions are foundational to our success. The recipients of this award are what we might call “unsung heroes”. In their quiet and natural ways, they are seen as significant, positive contributors to the life of the school. Congratulations to Blessed Carlo's Applause Awards!

We held a very special Mass today not only to celebrate the Easter Season and Catholic Education Week, but also our patron's, Blessed Carlo's, birthday. Fr. David reminded us that through the gift our Baptism, we have a good foundation - so that whenever we are faced with challenges, we can always rebuild and restore ourselves. This is much like Blessed Carlo who wanted to renew and rebuild, so that only good messages are spread online. Our school continues to commit to spreading positive messages that are inclusive and hope-filled.
We are grateful to the many people who played a part in this celebration and to the musicians who filled the church and our hearts with beautiful music during the Mass. We are a blessed school community.

Dear Families,

We have been journeying together during the season of Lent in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. And in each of our classes, students have been focusing in their own ways on how to deepen their faith through actions. The Lenten season draws to an end this evening, and the Holy Triduum begins with Holy Thursday Mass.

You might have heard reference to this three-day prayer period as a marathon. This afternoon, we began warming up for the rituals of the weekend with the Stations of the Cross. Ms. Andria Brickman and the Grade 6/7/8 class prepared the 14 devotions, or stations, that focus on specific events of Jesus’ last day in a video presentation. Click here to view the video.

The devotions help us to understand deep love and that God is always with us. Through the presentation, the students reminded us how profound this love is despite how challenging things can be. We were encouraged to look at our hearts and realize the love that we have and that we can offer by following in Jesus’ ways.

Thank you to the Grade 6/7/8 class and Ms. Brickman for leading today’s celebration! I invite you to join in the many celebrations that are being held this weekend in your church communities either in-person or online.

We wish you a very Blessed Easter weekend and we look forward to seeing you back in class on Tuesday!

Happy Easter!
