A blast from my past: the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Any of you who have seen the movie The Lost Boys may find it familiar. I'm unfortunately in Cali due to a death in the family, but it's been nice to tool around some places I haven't seen for probably 20 years.

Táim ag súil ó Hobbiton go Bree. (I'm walking from Hobbiton to Bree!) It's walking challenge season at work, and I figured one of those virtual Lord of the Rings journeys might help me stay motivated, so today I set off from Bag End with my trusty sidekick and the Gaeilge Weekly podcast. I got 1.5 miles in ... Yeah this is gonna take a while!

Anyway, I'm still here, even though it feels like forever since I've been active. I still have a couple weeks before my ADHD assessment appointment, so I'm the meantime I'm just trying to give myself some space from too many expectations. It's festival season, so I'm traveling a lot, and work has been...well, a full time job! 😆

First feis ever! We were the only 4 hand team so our 1st place for that was guaranteed as long as I didn't screw up 😆, but we also got 1st in the 3 hand, and one of our 2 hand teams got 2nd.

Went to the airshow yesterday! And yes, I got sunburned even though I applied a ton of sunscreen.

Y'all might have wondered where I've been recently. Don't worry, I haven't abandoned the music stuff, it just feels like I've been running on half power recently, and unfortunately that means the day job takes up all of my energy. 😭

After a dance performance with my fellow adult Irish dancers, I took the chance to wander around. So cool! There was amazing food from all over the world, and really cool cultural art!

So far the new stream schedule is going well! It's giving me a chance to work on backing arrangements and put down some recordings for Tune-A-Week. Fingers crossed I'll get caught up on those before too long. 🤞

Time to get real with myself. I have been enjoying hanging with y'all on Twitch more often this year, but the truth is that I'm also struggling mightily. Things like the Tune-a-Week aren't getting done, my yoga journey is at a standstill, and I'm feeling all sorts of jumbled up shame and annoyance for getting so behind in my goals.

So, I'm taking this week off from streaming as a recovery from Paddy's day and all its crazy, and then I'll come back with a modified schedule that hopefully gives me better breathing room. With luck, this will turn down the heat just enough that I don't run into a full burnout. 🤞

This Friday is the big day! Time to warm up your singing voice, get out your dancing shoes, and don't forget those cúpla focal. 😉 It won't be anything too big because as you may know, I'm behind on everything right now and Paddy's day prep is no exception, but there will be tunes on my Twitch channel around lunchtime on Friday. In theory I'll be catching up on some Tune-a-Week videos soon, but in the meantime I hope everyone is having a relaxing February. Or at least one with only a little stress.

Puff would like to know why I'm playing a game with a cat in it instead of giving her all the pets she requires.

My back is getting marginally better. I'm annoyed that I'm now double behind on recording my tune-a-week project, but that's life isn't it! Fingers crossed I'll be back to playing guitar tomorrow.
