HELLO FACEBOOK WORLD
It's been quite a while since I've posted on this page. 2020 has required a whole lot of adjustments and sacrifices. I hope everyone is doing well and is not just surviving during this time of the virus, but happy.
I have been busy designing book covers and doing some prepress work for some self-publishing authors. I love it.
I'm posting 5 covers in a continuing series that have been published on Amazon Kindle.
If you're an aspiring author and are seeking a cover artist, let's talk. Give me a call or text at 406-250-8813. Texting would be best, but if you do call and I don't answer, leave a voicemail. I receive so many spam calls I won't answer if I don't recognize the number.
Madigan Foal Squeeze Refresher Research on neuroinhibitory steroids shows that they work like sedatives in conjunction with other substances during pregnancy and parturition.
Mindy Cochran’s group, Levitation Nation, always come across as vibrant and joyful. That’s especially true in the photoshoot “be the light be the garden,” by Emily Mohler.
One of the photos of Mindy as well as Toulouse Lautrec’s painting “Moulin Rouge” is the inspiration for this poster size giclee.
I love my Geese. My Sebastopols look like they're wearing tutus. They're my swans. They follow me everywhere. They let me know when trouble is afoot. Did you know that geese are very loyal? Most mate for life. When a goose's mate dies, that bird will often mourn in seclusion—and some geese spend the rest of their lives as widows or widowers, refusing to mate again.

I wasn't going to allow myself to get sucked into my compulsive obsessive habit of ignoring all but the passion for my artwork. It's not working today. Here's a preview of the latest obsession.
A good morning for reflection. Fall is definitely here. The hustle and bustle of the tourists is slowing down. My animals are starting to get fuzzy. This is a pretty good indication of cold weather to come. Hunting season is upon us and our place is a sanctuary for the creatures that can find it. Ideas, ideas, and more ideas fill my mind with things I want to create and things I want to do. A lot more things than time to do them. The dog kids say “take a breath, sit with us a few minutes more, enjoy the moment, all is well.” So, I will. I hope you will too.
Aaah, the aroma of coffee and fresh baked goods. One of the three best coffee houses in Colombia Falls.
Advertising campaign series. Created content, logo, and design.
I can do the same for you.
The Polebridge Merc is a must “Go to” for anyone in, or coming to Montana. Did you know they're completely solar-powered? This is a 2018 ad. Not sure of the closing date this year, so you'd better hurry up for a visit soon. Look at that clean, clear blue Montana sky!
Fair Book Cover Submission. Gotta love those pigs!
I am fond of these two rabbit paintings, (giclee). We get so many beautiful night skies in our area with gorgeous moons.
Glacier National Park is an official “Dark Sky Park.” Take a look at this page for more information.

Who needs sleep...Upgrading my proficiency in Photoshop. Trying some new filters to create texture and an oil painting effect on this photo of Tess. I get really involved and time literally flys by.
I love all of the flora and fauna here in my little corner of the world. Bears and the flowers in the spring at Many Glacier are near the top of my list.
Majestic splender.
One of my favorite projects over the years was the creation of a new masthead for the Hungry Horse News. The Hungry Horse News has a special meaning for me. It's the reason we moved to Montana.
Before 1993 we lived half the year in Montana and the rest of the year was spent on our ranch in California.
No matter what anyone says, keeping up with two businesses and homes is not fun, or easy.
I wanted to move to Montana. My husband said, "well, you find yourself a job there, and we'll move." Little did he know about the tenacity that is part of my DNA. He would live to rue his words.
At the time we were living at Many Glacier. I painted a watercolor scene on a notecard along with an inquiry to the publisher of the paper. Less than a week later, he showed up at Many Glacier and hired me.
Eventually, the paper was bought out by the owners of the Daily Inter Lake. I was brought onto their team. It's there I was asked to update the masthead for the Hungry Horse News. I'm not quite sure of the year, but it's stood the test of time. It's still the masthead for the paper, and it makes me happy every time I see it.
Here's a little more information about my beloved, hometown paper, the Hungry Horse News.
Mel Ruder founded the Hungry Horse Newspaper on August 8, 1946, in Columbia Falls, Montana. The log cabin still houses the newspaper today. It remains one of the few papers in America published in a log building.
In 1965 Ruder won a Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of a disastrous flood that threatened his community.
This painting was created in both Illustrator and Photoshop a long time ago with the intentions of printing as a giclee. May get around to it now.
I frequently ponder about talented people and creativity.
Are we born with this innate drive to create, or is this something that is learned and nurtured?
When I look at my family, I tend to believe it's an innate "born with" ability that may, or may not be nurtured.
Both father and mother were talented people. I don't think they would admit it, but they were.
My father was a carpenter. He could take a piece of wood and an idea and create anything. Including a playhouse for his daughters, and…. A wooden swimming pool!
Mom could take a piece of fabric and create amazing things, She often made her own patterns. She would also find old furniture and refinish it. The results were amazing. As a child of the depression, she made her own clothes from patterned flour sacks. As a teenager, both she and her sisters taught themselves to play musical instruments and formed a traveling band.
Both parents were raised during
the depression era and as such, saw no dollar value in creative careers.
I started drawing at an early age and never stopped.
All of my children and grandchildren amaze me.
I believe creative people create. They can't help it. They look at everything with a "different eye." They not only see something as it is but what it could be. A doll head becomes a flower pot, a horseshoe becomes a sculpture.
Imagination, curiosity, and wonder are just part of our DNA.
The creative arts may be taught, but I believe to be successful as an artist in any field, the learning must be paired with a creative spark.
We don't color within the box, or outside the box. For most of us, there is "no box." What do you think?
This is a sign that I created in Illustrator. The image was enlarged and transferred to wood and painted. Dannik Gardens is my daughter’s beautiful farm in Columbia Falls, Montana.
I've got one of these. So True.
Just another day at the barn. :)
