Hip Replacements / Metal Toxicity

- attending two civil bellwether Pinnacle hip trials (in 2016 & 2017)
- speaking twice to FDA committees (in 2019 & 2020) including to the FDA Panel Investigating Metals Used in Medical Devices
- speaking to Johnson & Johnson shareholders (in 2017) about the harm being done to hip patients who had received their products, such as the Pinnacle model of hip
- researching OSHA-specified levels of metals like cobalt and chromium
- researching adverse events related to medical devices as sometimes reported to the FDA's "MAUDE" adverse events reporting database system
- interviewing key whistleblower surgeons who have spent years, trying to warn DePuy hip marketing executives and other medical device companies' leaders that their products were causing severe health issues related specifically to cobalt toxicity and asking them to remove the harmful, toxic, potentially deadly implants from the market as well as pressuring the FDA to do its job... by actually policing the companies that sell implanted metal medical devices like most Americans assume they're doing and by warning doctors of the potential for allergic responses to metals, galvanic currents created between two implanted metals with dissimilar charges and all health issues from which a patient could be suffering, related to his or her implanted metal medical device
- lobbying/advocating for improved medical device safety legislation on Capitol Hill (in 2019)
- advocating at the FDA (2019) for the testing of all patients for potential allergies to materials used to make medical devices BEFORE the patient is implanted with a medical device like a joint replacement, spinal cord stimulator, piece of bladder mesh, hernia mesh or abdominal mesh, birth control device, et cetera
- interviewing numerous patients harmed by hip and metal toxicity issues including soft tissue destruction, cardiomyopathy, cobalt encephalopathy, hearing loss, vision problems, thyroid-related health problems, loss of mobility, severely affected balance issues, unexplained falling, memory loss, confusion, delusions, hallucinations, demented thinking, Parkinson's-like tremors, adverse health issues that mirror or are mistaken for nervous system ailments and/or signs the patient is having a severe mental health crisis... and death, usually from a sudden cardiac event related to their cobalt-caused cardiomyopathy.
