The first person to reach the site of a medical emergency is a paramedic. And if you are thinking about becoming one, you need to read the following:

A typical 12-hour shift on the job can start as early as 5 in the morning. The first task is to check all emergency medical supplies, equipment and drugs, and assess the condition of the ambulance to ensure a smooth run.

Once the maintenance check is done, the team heads off to the stand-by point. And then the real day begins.

On a typical day a paramedic can respond to around 10-15 emergency calls, but mind you, there is nothing typical about emergencies (and neither are we able to respond to each).

It can be as simple as an old man who fell off his chair and fractured his arm, or as complex as an allergic pregnant lady who was accidentally exposed to peanuts. And every call needs to be given equal priority even if we know they are not emergencies, like those “calls” where someone wants the ambulance to take them to the hospital, or worse, wants our help with a toothache.

The response time can vary too. But on an average it takes around an hour and a half from the moment a paramedic receives a call until the time they drop off the patient at the hospital (if the situation demands it).

Whatever might be the case, the job of a paramedic is not easy. You need to have the ability to stay cool under pressure, handle every case efficiently, and be prepared to manage irritating family members and abusive folks as the alternative can be fatal.

But if you have the aptitude, the medical know-how, and nerves of steel, then being a paramedic can be the most fulfilling experience of your life.

Paramedics save lives every day. From resuscitating a patient suffering from cardiac arrest to managing a road traffic accident victim, they are trained to handle emergencies in almost the same manner a doctor would.

It is a tiring job. And yes, you will have to face many deaths. But at the end of the day, if you are thinking of bec

Paramedical doctors are able to heal the patient first by providing first aid. So first the patient will talk to the paramedical doctors.

Emergency patients go first to paramedics and paramedics play a role in performing minor operations.
Paramedics refer to MBBS doctors when the patient feels any major problem

Some MBBS doctors appreciate paramedic doctors according to their work skills

Be it first aid or emergency treatment, the doctor provides the right treatment

So paramedic doctors are no less in that regard

The project Achieving Sustainability Towards Healthcare Access (ASTHA) (formerly known as TARSAN) was introduced in 2011. ASTHA collaborated with the government of Bangladesh to create a professional healthcare training for young adults – The Community Paramedic Training Program. The project goal to improve access to quality healthcare services at rural level through development of skilled Community Paramedics (CPs). Certified by the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC), the Community Paramedic course allows students to gain professional skills in providing primary curative healthcare services, focusing on maternal and child health and family planning. ASTHA facilitates the development of these frontline health workers who connect the locals to proper health services.

To meet the above-mentioned goal for ASTHA project, Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP) has been awarded for the project “Development of Comprehensive Public Relation Strategy (PR) and Implementation for ASTHA project”. Under this project activities to be undertaken upon approval of the ASTHA team; 1) Development of comprehensive PR strategy 2) Designing of promotional materials 3) Developing media and publication tools 4) Producing relevant audio-visuals 5) Provide PR support to national stakeholder workshop. BCCP already has developed the comprehensive PR strategies.

As part of that BCC completed situation analysis, conducted one strategy development workshop and one message and materials development workshop. Developed promotional materials and provided PR support to national stakeholder workshop. Development of 60 sec. TVC, gameboard and flipchart in the form of storytelling are under process of development.

Community Paramedic

Community Paramedics are paramedics that have additional training that allows them to provide primary and preventative health care services. They typically work for hospitals, but their work involves collaborating with public health and other community-based organizations. Unlike EMTs and traditional paramedics, they are more focused on community health. In Minnesota, Community Paramedics provide a wide range of services in a variety of settings. They often support to people who have just come out of the hospital, or people who are at risk of ending up in the emergency room. They may provide health to patients or communities; help patients manage disease and/or stay on their medication; or respond to emergency calls. They provide these services in locations such as clinics, hospitals, patients’ homes, assisted living, long-term care facilities, and shelters.

The Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board is responsible for certifying community paramedics. In order to be certified, you must 1) be currently certified as a paramedic and have the equivalent of two years of full-time experience; 2) successfully complete a community paramedic education program through an accredited college or university; and 3) practice under the supervision of an ambulance services medical director.

What is the Difference Between a Paramedic and a Doctor?

Paramedics are highly trained medical professionals that have an incredibly important role in the NHS, dealing with life-threatening situations on a regular basis in a pre-hospital setting. They are often the first people at an emergency and will try to stabilise a patient before they are taken to a hospital and can be assessed by a doctor. A paramedic is not the same as a doctor. However, they are trained to triage patients, assess their clinical status and manage them in emergency situations. They can often interpret investigations such as ECGs, and perform certain emergency and lifesaving medical procedures. They work differently to doctors as the majority of their work is done in a pre-hospital setting. This may be in a patient's home, on the roadside, in a store or public space, or in the back of an ambulance on the way to a hospital. Unlike a doctor, a paramedic is not an independent practitioner, and are unable to order medical tests, imaging, procedures or prescribe medications. They are not involved in the ongoing management of a patient once they are safe in a hospital setting. Paramedics will handover to a doctor, and will continue their work on the frontline.

If your interest in medicine stems from wanting to deal with challenging and stressful situations where you make life-saving decisions, then a career as a paramedic may be perfect for you

What Does a Paramedic Do?

Paramedics work on teams that respond to medical emergencies. They work under the supervision of a doctor, though the doctor is usually not on site. They may communicate with a doctor via phone, radio, or pre-written orders.

Paramedics also make some decisions about patient care and supervise the other members of their team who have less training, like EMTs.

On calls, paramedics may:

Do CPR

Use a defibrillator

Give IV medication

Clear airways

Give someone a tracheotomy

Use mechanical breathing devices

Do basic medical tests

Interpret the results of the tests

Give antidotes to drug overdose or poisoning

Monitor the person who is sick during the trip to the hospital or to the doctor

Interpret patient data on monitoring equipment

Communicate with supervising doctor

Provide a detailed account of the person's condition to the doctor upon arrival

Education and Training
age (18-35)

To start paramedic training, you have to have a high school(S.S.C. + H.S.C) importants studies level
diploma or equivalent and CPR certification. In some states, you may need an associate's degree to start paramedic training.

A paramedic is a medical professional who specializes in emergency treatment. They are not doctors, nurses, or physician's assistants.

The word paramedic is a combination of two terms. "Para" means next to, and "medic" means doctor. So it means that paramedics work alongside doctors, though not always physically. They can provide life-saving treatment for someone until they can get to a doctor.

Paramedics are not Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), though many EMTs become paramedics. EMTs have the skills to stabilize and transport people who call for emergency medical care. They can use basic equipment in an ambulance. But they aren’t allowed to give treatments that break the skin, with a few exceptions.

Paramedics have more training and can provide more advanced emergency medical care. They can use basic and advanced equipment on ambulances. In their training, they can learn how to start intravenous lines (IVs) and manage compromised airways.

Paramedics primarily work in emergency rooms and ambulances where they treat people with urgent problems. They may also work in specific settings, such as:

On cruise ships

On oil-drilling platforms

In air rescue transport

On ocean rescue teams

At special events like music festivals

On S.W.A.T. teams

On firefighting teams
