John Menke and Malinda Nichols have been serving on a medical team in Haiti the last few days. They have seen hundreds of children and adults who live in small, remote villages and have virtually no access to healthcare. It's one way to BE the church in the world, to serve the widows and the orphans, and to share the love of Christ through both word and deed.

The Menkes delivered this morning's Ministry Minute and had an exciting announcement--Cahaba Bend is heading back to Costa Rica next year! Beth spoke about our covenant partnership with Wil, Yolanda, and CRMP, then Shawn spoke to the reasons we surmount the time and expense to travel internationally to serve alongside them. June 3-10, 2017 are officially our dates. Want to discuss this further? Just holler at the Menkes or the Nichols and they'll get you some info and happily answer any questions you have. Comment below if you don't have their contact information and we'll get you sorted out :) πŸ‡¨πŸ‡·πŸ‡¨πŸ‡·πŸ‡¨πŸ‡·

Our next Recovery Church is tomorrow night. Addiction is a disease that touches the lives of so many, and we created RC to be a safe, encouraging place for those who struggle with addiction, their families members and loved ones, and anyone else who could use a dose of simple, authentic worship in a relaxed atmosphere. Please share with your friends and the community and help us spread the word that this resource is available. Dinner at 6. Worship at 6:30.

Another wildly successful (emphases on WILD!) VBS is in the books at Cahaba Bend! These two ladies right here were once again the ones making all of the magic behind the scenes. Please leave a comment thanking them for all of their hard work to make this week special for our kiddos in the community!

Scenes from last night at : the top photo is Shawn Menke leading the first of the Small Groups to kick off this summer. His group is focused on serving others for the glory of God. He kicked off the group with a devotion of Matthew 25, the parable of Jesus telling his disciples that whatever they did for the least of these--feeding the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, giving rest to the weary--they also did for Him.

The bottom photo is youth pastor leading the students in a sermon based on the same Scripture.

Neither Zack nor Shawn knew the other was teaching on the same Scripture.

So, how cool is that? Our goal at Cahaba Bend is to serve our community, our world, and every place in between.

Tonight is Recovery Church! RC is a casual worship service that exists to minister to those who have experienced the pain of addiction, their loved ones, and ultimately anyone who wants to attend. Our theme has become "everyone has a story", and tonight Jason Homan will be sharing his.

Tonight we'll also take a look at 2 Corinthians 5. The idea of justification through faith can be tough to grasp sometimes. But Christ looks at us like no one else can. He is the master carver and we are a block of wood that He is able to make a masterpiece out of.

Come and worship with us, and please share with the community. Dinner is served at 6pm, and worship begins at 6:30.

Senior Recognition Sunday is always a little bittersweet. We are so proud of these guys, all they have accomplished and the amazing young people they have grown into, but at the same time, it's hard to see them go! Congratulations Jordan, Reagan, Carly, Connor, Grayson, Emily, and Blaine! Go boldly!

A wonderful day at Camp Hope! May is National Foster Care Awareness Month, and some of our members were there today to work this event that CELEBRATED kids in the foster care system and their families. CCB is in a Covenant Partnership with Camp Hope, which means we support their ministry long-term with our gifts, time, prayers, resources, and people. If you are interested in serving Camp Hope, let us know!

...and so it begins! I get asked often where I think this ministry will be in 10 years. I have a really hard time answering that question, especially considering the fact that if you had asked me 10 years ago, there is NO WAY that I would have said this! It's hard to find words to express how happy we are to be opening the Day Care today and how grateful I am for all the hard work that has gone into this moment. All I know is that we are thankful to have THIS opportunity in THIS place at THIS time. Thanks be to God.

Last night. Wow. The beautiful choir led us in an evening of powerful worship and praise. Our sanctuary was packed to the brim with members of our church and community, eager to hear the message they brought from Uganda. Thank you to everyone who fed the people, prepared the sanctuary, cleaned the kitchen, donated to their ministry, or in anyway made last night happen. Thank you Sozo for blessing us with your gifts and talents-- we won't soon forget it! #πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬

Yesterday morning, Taylor and Jason shared why Recovery Church means so much to them. This is the week. Tomorrow night is the night. Recovery Church is here. Cahaba Bend members, we would greatly appreciate any donations of sides and desserts for our 6pm dinner. But most importantly, please help us spread the word about this ministry. 1 in 5 people are touched by addiction, and often it goes unnoticed. Recovery Church exists to care for those who are living with or have lived with addiction, as well as their loved ones. But, as Jason pointed out yesterday, we are all in recovery or seeking recovery from something. All are invited tomorrow night. .

Yet another purpose of the MMC fulfilled! Being a tiny part of building this was awesome.

Tonight is the first night of our women's bible study at the MMC. We pray that this would be a time of fellowship, learning and encouragement for them. Thank you Christ Church Ft. Lauderdale for donating the Spanish language version of this study!
