It’s done!!!

This gigantic blanket is getting a new home for a special person this Christmas! It’s also proof that almost anything can be made into a blanket! This is the Transgender Flag! Everyone deserves to be wrapped in love!

I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Blue Pink and White.
It’s 55x70! Huge!
The stitch is a basic Back Loop Double Crochet.

Working on some new market bags between blanket projects.

These are 100% cotton so they can be washed. Perfect for the beach, the farmers market, or a trip to the library

I haven’t posted in almost 2 months!! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ summer has been crazy with the kids and all the therapies and appointments. But, I’ve been creating more and loving my yarn!

2/3’s done in 4 days 😬😳

This morning I was trying to get the top left section done and my hands just wouldn’t cooperate, apparently they were very tired and protesting! So… here I sit with a needle and scissors sewing in all these ends! It’s the worst part of making these blankets for sure but it’s a necessary evil!

I’m sure it will be done by the weekend and I need to make a decision on the “frame” aka border. Most wooden barn quilts have a frame that’s done in either black or white. I feel like for this the white would get lost but what’s your thought?

I should be working on items for my craft fairs in the fall but this barn quilt has been calling my name!!

I’m 1/3 of the way done and I’m loving it so much!! They are so fun to make. I’m using the C2C (corner to corner) stutch. each cluster of stitches makes a small block and I use those to make bigger blocks. It’s like putting a puzzle together!

I have been wanting to make this blanket for a long time but never had colors that inspired me until last week!

I have to give myself a huge pat on the back here. Normally I’m super OCD about my stripe patterns but I was inspired by a fellow crocheter who is the queen of random stripes so I had to try to release my control and go for it. I’m LOVING the results! Might have to do some more random stripes… or maybe not 😬😬😂

Anyways if you have a baby coming that you need a gift for this would be darling. Can be made in any size/colors! Hit me up!

Another sweet blanket done 💗

This is done in a C2C (corner to corner) join as you go stitch. It’s one of my favorites and I use it a lot! It’s about 34 inches square so perfect for a car seat blanket or just to snuggle with or even a lap blanket.

I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Cherry Blossom, Ivory and River Ripple.

Im so in love with this plaid blanket. Made with a chunky yarn so it will be super warm, perfect for the cabin! Plus with it only being 2 colors it will be very easy to match the decor.

Sometimes things done go as we have planned!

I was working on this blanket for a local silent auction. I wasn’t madly in love with it but it’s pretty so I pushed through. Last night I was about halfway through it so I laid it in the floor to take a look and realized I had messed something up somewhere along the way and now the bottom is 2 inches wider than the top 🤦‍♀️

I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my work and this is not an acceptable item for an auction or for most things.

I will give it new life as something else buts it’s sad to say goodbye to it.

The good news is I get to start something new for the auction and I LOVE starting new projects. Thanks adhd 😂😂

I’m a full month behind on my 2023 temperature blanket so I thought since I’m on the couch with the cold from hell that I would get caught up.

Working on a new blanket design.

I’ve been inspired by barn quilts after the one I made at Christmas time so I designed one and now I’m figuring out how to make it into a blanket! Very excited to see where this takes me!

Did you know that barn quilts were developed over 300 years ago and worked as a type of map for the country? The townspeople could tell visitors how to find a family or crossroads by describing the quilts on the local barns.

My kids keep telling me I need to make Pokeballs so here it is! I threw it at each of them and they both said “are you trying to catch me?”

Phew! Making progress! This is the first time I’ve laid it out and actually looked it. Glad there’s no mistakes 😂😂

It currently about 7ft long and only a few more inches to go until it’s the final length then I start closing the rectangle (this is the best part)

Something many of you may not know about me…
I have a huge love of barn quilts! I love what they represent and how beautiful and unique they all are. I’ve wanted to crochet a barn quilt blanket for a long time but never found a pattern I loved until this one by Hooked Hazel.

I was laying on the couch one morning wishing for a huge warm blanket to cuddle under. I started searching Etsy for patterns and this one popped up! PERFECTION! It’s huge (think full size bed) it’s a barn quilt and it’s the perfect colors!!!

Added bonus… it’s teaching me new color changing skills and how to manage several skeins of yarn at the same time. Love learning new things!
