TRAVEL GRANT FOR ACS SPRING NATIONAL MEETING!!

The Undergraduate ACS Bridge Travel Award supports travel and/or registration costs for students from underrepresented minority (URM) groups to attend either the ACS Spring National Meeting or the annual meeting of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE). Each award will be for up to $2,000 of eligible expenses. The aim of the travel award is to increase the number of URM students who gain access to doctoral programs in the chemical sciences. Please invite eligible undergraduate students to learn more about the award here. Undergraduate students should submit their application by February 7, 2020 for the ACS Spring Meeting in Philadelphia.

Summer internship opportunities available at US National Labs!

The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program places students from 2 and 4 year undergraduate institutions as paid interns in science and engineering research activities at DOE national laboratories and facilities, working with laboratory staff scientists and engineers on projects related to ongoing research programs. Appointments are for 10 weeks during the Summer term, are open to US Citizens and US Lawful Permanent Residents, include a weekly stipend, reimbursement for one round trip domestic travel to the participant’s host DOE laboratory, and possibilities for a housing allowance. More than 850 internships are sponsored annually.

ACS Bridge Program aims to increase diversity in chemical science graduate education

The American Chemical Society Bridge Program (ACS-BP) assists talented underrepresented minority (URM) students get into and succeed in graduate school. Students who have not applied to graduate school or have applied but were unsuccessful, or would benefit from additional coursework or research experience, are eligible to apply. Students can submit their general graduate school application through the ACS-BP online application system; the deadline for students to apply is March 15, 2019.
