Rain Garden Tour
Wednesday, July 14, 2021
6:30 – 7:30PM
Meet at corner of Steel Rd. & Olympic Ave., Havertown, PA 19083

Hav-a-Rain Garden and Upper Darby Rain Gardens will be hosting a ½ mile guided walking tour of Havertown’s rain gardens. Over the course of one hour we’ll visit six rain gardens. Attendees will learn what stormwater is, why they should care, and what they can do about it. Rain Gardens serve several purposes, besides functionality, they also provide habitat for local wildlife, become an attractive feature in the yard, and increase property values. During this walk you’ll view several designs based on different conditions/features and be introduced to common native plants.

Homeowners will be available to share their thoughts and answer questions.

In many instances, there are funds available so that the rain gardens can be installed at no or low cost to the homeowner.

We hope you can join us to see what’s in bloom!

To help us plan for the event or just to be kept informed of other events (including rain gardens, planters and barrels), you can sign up here. But also feel free to just show up!

We completed our first garden of the season over the weekend. Thanks for the homeowner many volunteers that make these possible. Each rain garden helps to reduce pollution entering our waterways. They also keep rainwater out of the stormsewer system that can help to reduce flooding. The more rain gardens we get in the ground, the more improvements we will see.
