Meet Bailey. No, not that cute calf, but that strapping young man making sure our calves are all set as they enter the world. Bailey keeps the farm running! Whether it’s repairing fence, building feeders, or yeehawing a few pigs back in their paddock, Bailey does it all!
Calving season came a bit earlier than usual here at the farm… the bulls may have broke out of their paddock a few months early this year.
Fortunately we have Bailey who makes sure that calves get sorted with their mamas and are well-attended to their first few days of life!

A few weeks ago we wanted to cook one of our roasts, but it was a hot day and we weren’t feeling the heaviness of a traditional pot roast.
So we improvised.
We used ‘s Thai Basil Beef Bowl recipe as a start and sautéed the roast in a Dutch oven. We then added a triple portion of the sauce along with fresh thyme and cooked at 300 for about 3 hours.
The beef was flakey and perfect for bowls. We topped with a vinegar + coleslaw mix, pickled radishes, carrots, sesame seeds and a homemade yum yum sauce (mayo + sweet chili sauce).
The perfect summer meal!

Last week of the felt hat before switching to straw after Easter. I love how seasons on the farm influence every part of our life, even down to the hats we wear.

The bad news: Tomorrow night’s burger night has been CANCELED due to pending inclement weather.
The good news? We’ll be ’s Bread Day next Saturday, March 19th cooking up burgers!

Who guessed pig 🐖 feeder!? If you saw our IG story, you know that Farmhand Bailey was working on a project these last few days. He made this out of an old water cube, and we already love it more than the expensive pig feeder we bought last year. Cheers 🍻 to repurposing old equipment!
It’s a beautiful late winter morning here at the farm. We’re expecting calves 🐮 any day now, and poultry 🐓 season is right around the corner.

This group of piglets loved the warm ☀️ weather we got this week! There will surely be a few more cold weeks ahead of us, but soon these guys and gals will be in forest pastures 🌳
