I am a Continuum doula
I know I don't get round to posting much, wanted to share this though. Feeling very happy, I was at a beautiful homebirth at the weekend! It's amazing to be invited into such a personal birth space. I set off for my client's home hearing the owl calling from the trees near my house. Afterwards I drove home into the first hint of dawn, and saw two deer up close to the road.
I was thinking about how I carefully packed my doula bag, and then used nothing from it (this time!)
This memory print was lots of fun to help with recently! My client and her lovely kids including their new baby of course, all contributed their footprints, I just helped out with holding the baby, setting up paints and clearing up afterwards! Pride of place on their wall now. π£π¦ΆποΈπ¨

My lovely client wanted to try elimination communication, and with a bit of info and support from me, she and baby are doing so well at catching those number twos! Elimination communication is simply holding baby over a potty or the toilet, and seeing if they want to "go" when they are squirming or just after a feed. It's not an "all or nothing" approach, it can be done part-time and of course, nappies can be used for back up and to avoid accidents! It's not coercive and will not or damage your baby, and is not the same as early potty training. (I have permission to post this photo of course.)
Lovely spot for (re-)reading this. Just one of several books I brought on holiday with me, rather optimistically! I've got my post-it notes too and finding so many good quotes!
It is so amazing to work with someone and be a part of their journey as their family grows!
I love my job π and feel so lucky to be a doula.
Inspired by beautiful, tender photos that other people have of their pregnancy journeys, I'm reflecting on my own records...and noticing that although there are approximately 5937483828484854 photos of my babies in their first year earthside, the ones of me pregnant are few and far between. Thought you'd all appreciate this one, though, taken at ZSL Whipsnade about a week before my son's birthday. π

As uncomfortable as it is for me to blow my own trumpet I thought I'd better share the words a lovely client wrote recently. I felt blessed to be part of her birth team too, so I guess that's what you call a win-win!
Look π I have a professional logo now! Thanks to Char Herb for working with my ideas, all the back and forth messages and suggestions you sent me. If anyone wants a graphic designer I would recommend her π―
Just finished up my 3rd evening of breastfeeding peer supporter training course. It was great to update and refresh my knowledge on a topic I am passionate about!
did a great job in my opinion. Thank you!

I have been blessed with a gift of - I haven't counted them - but a LOT of books which all relate to parenting and connection. The box arrived today and I am so excited to read through some myself but also lend them out to local parents - I'm yet to sort out the mechanics of potentially setting up a new parenting library or whether there's an existing parenting library to join together with, but I will endeavour to do so!
I have personally benefitted from books lent to me by a La Leche League group library when I was first breastfeeding, and from friends, especially on the topics of fertility and birth.
I am a book lover. Certain books have changed my life. Yay for books and thank you so much Emilie!
I'm sure I'd never heard of doulas until my daughter was two or three, and friends started talking about "having a doula". It sounded so good! The doula effect π I'm so glad I took that step, reached out to some local doulas and booked Pat. She helped me with so much reassurance and reminders of the power I had to make choices during my labour.
Kaz was an amazing person to learn from, and the team who led all the afternoon sessions of course. The space was safe yet it also encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. I learnt so much, about being doula*d* as well as doula*ing*. It certainly got the oxytocin flowing!
Hello π
