Would you consider being a mentor?
Calling all kids at heart! We are looking for community members who would enjoy spending 45 minutes a few times each month with some of the coolest kids around. Research tells us that when non-family adults show interest in students and spend time with them, there are positive outcomes. Students are more likely to have good attendance, be more motivated, and do better at school. They are also more likely to set and achieve goals. You don't have to be a teacher, counselor, or pastor to be this type of mentor-- just an adult who has an interest in the children in our community. Meeting times are set around your schedule and could be spent eating breakfast or lunch together, shooting hoops, playing games, coloring, or just chatting. If you'd like more information, please contact Titan Mentoring Coordinator, Kerri McAlexander (515-571-8495; [email protected]) or Elementary Principal, Nicole McChesney (712-297-8621;[email protected]).
