Thank you very much Cowboys from space 🌷❤️
On this day, 5 years ago, I created Cowboys from space (well, technically I did it in the night between 09/29 and 09/30). I have spoken about its early days a few times, therefore I opted to ask someone to write a note for the blog anniversary. Today I’m going to share something from Flor, an Argentinian psychologist passionate about street photography whom I got in touch with through my blog…
(Scroll down to read the text in Spanish)
[ENG 🇬🇧🇬🇧] "A few years ago I 'met' Matt, in quotes because we’ve never seen each other in person. He and this blog became something very special to me.
He asked me at the time, through Instagram, if I could write a little note telling what street photography meant to me, and thanks to his question I had to do a great introspection exercise. I thought that, although I took it for granted that 'photography was something wonderful for me that allowed me to communicate', I hadn’t deepened much into its real meaning... So I had no idea what to answer. But I did know that photography moved more in me than I was capable of showing at that very moment. I took my time, since I thought it was necessary… And Eureka! I understood I couldn't explain its meaning by itself, away from the stories the pictures told, and what I had discovered through them. From that reflection came 'My days with Anne in Nepal' (my little space in the life of this blog), and my friendship with Matt.
Thanks to that question, I’m now fully aware that, when I show my photos, I also show a little piece of myself, which is that 'seasoning' that each of the images of people in my photographs has. So in my photos it's not just Anne, but Anne seen through my eyes, who’s being seen through your eyes. And perhaps her story will be told by you to other people, but this time it will be a story of three, because you will also be included in it, and so on... And that is how something as 'simple' as a photo widens our view of the world, and this is the deep meaning that I glimpsed at that moment.
Once again… Matt, thank you… because just starting to participate in this so very special anniversary day of Cowboys From Space, made me reflect on what I have learned and lived all these years since we met, which has made re-live a thousand images, stories and moments that we shared throughout the world.
A great hug from a distance, and congratulations for your wonderful work. Cheers for a million years of Cowboys from Space!"
