▶️President Joe Biden announced he will forgive $10,000 in federal student debt for most borrowers and up to $20,000 for borrowers who went to college on a Pell Grant. The relief will be limited to Americans earning under $125,000 per year, or $250,000 for married couples or heads of households.

▶️The IRS is refunding 1.2 billion dollars to taxpayers who filed certain 2019 or 2020 late returns. Nearly 1.6 million taxpayers will automatically receive the refunds or credits. Many of these payments will be completed by the end of September.

▶️Pending home sales are down this summer for two consecutive months. According to The National Association of Realtors, sales slipped one percent from June to July. In June, housing affordability dropped to its lowest level since 1989. Monthly mortgage payments on the average house jumped 54 percent from one year ago.

The White House is also expected to address in the coming days whether to extend again the current pause on federal payments, which is set to expire on August 31.
