William Ohlmann for Ward 3 Alderman
I have lived in Chillicothe my whole life. I have seen the ins and outs of a well ran government. I
Hello everyone. I have remained behind the scenes soaking in a lot of what this current council is doing. It seems like we have a lot of room for improvement nowadays. First, I'd like to congratulate Jeremy Cooper on being appointed the new chief of police in November. I'd also like to thank Chief Scott Mettille for his dedication and service to this city. Scott and I may disagree on a lot of topics, but now is a time we step up and say thanks.
Second thing, I would like to announce that I will be running for election on April 4th, 2023. I will be circulating petitions and going door to door here in the next few weeks, so please, if you'd like to sign my petition, let me know. I'd love to have your support.
Most of all, I'd love to represent you guys in a fair way. This current council down right doesn't care what they're constituents have to say, or their point of views. As before, being alderperson is listening to their constituents. That should be the first priority of all alderpersons. 2nd priority, VOTE FOR WHAT IS RIGHT AND VOTE NO TO THE WRONG!
I am not afraid to stand-up for my constituents and if something is brought up that I disagree with, I will whole heartedly voice my opinions. I will not be another yes man on this council. I feel our council now, is scared to voice their opinions. What this city needs is a change. I WILL COMMIT THE NEXT 4 YEARS OF MY DUTIES ON THIS COUNCIL TO HELP MAKE THAT CHANGE. .
That's all for now..
Have a great week!
I have lived in Chillicothe my whole life. I have seen the ins and outs of a good government, that also has a lot of ups and downs. I have seen the transition of many offices of aldermen, city clerks, mayors, you name it. I have seen the ins and outs of a well ran government, and a not so well ran government.
Chillicothe is a place that attracts 1000's of visitors a year. We have so much that a community our size usually doesn't have to provide.
I have visions for Chillicothe, the hometown I grew up in. I have lived here for 22 years. I have visions for the community to attract more people. Visitors and Citizens is what makes a community a community. Without them, we wouldnt have what we call a loving community.
That is why, On this date, I am declaring that I am running for Ward 3 Alderman in 2023.
I will begin to campaign here in a few weeks b
Thanks to all my supporters.
Well, this was one heck of an election. I would like to thank everyone who voted for me, and everyone who voted for Mike Hughes! Thank you all for the votes, and supporting me! Congratulations to Trish Connor, and all others who took seats tonight. You all will do well!
Have a great night! I will be running in 2023. See you around town!!!
Hello. We are just 2 short days away from election day. I want to urge you all to go out and vote! Your voice needs to be heard and your opinions need to be cared for. This current council does not do that. I want to represent and fight for you! Your voices will be heard. I want to fight to repair the corruption in this city. There is a lot of it right now! I thank all of you for supporting me. I appreciate each and every one of my constituents. I hope to see you at the poll's Tuesday!
Hello. I am writing today to discuss a topic with you guys, and get input. Please comment with what you think.
It has been brought to my attention about open burning. Now for many, you have already seen that I disagree with open burning. I disagree with people who use it to burn building lumber, garbage, and tires. I think the city should do something about this. So here is my suggestion.
Possibly, the city could arrange something where the citizens place their yard waste on the curb, and the city comes by and picks it up. Ample communities around us do that, why can we not? Instead of having the city workers do it, maybe community service workers should be the ones to load the trucks and dump it at Moffitt Park dump. Maybe that will work out better and alleviate the open burning problems. Upon helping the community, it is also helping the citizens that have gotten sentenced community service hours, get those hours in.
What do you guys think about this topic?
Hello. We are just 5 short days away from Election day on Tuesday, April 6th. As many of you have seen over the last several months, I have a lot on my agenda that I would like to accomplish if I am elected as Alderman. I would like to stress on a few of those topics. I am wanting a transparent, effective government. If we are not transparent, we are not going to be effective. If we are not effective, we are setting ourselves up for failure. If we fail as a city, it is not going to be well.
I am also wanting to ban the spraying of mosquitos. I have first hand knowledge of what it does to our health, our environment, our pollinators, and our animals. It is nothing but bad for everyone and everything. Our current council says it is safe, but they have failed to do the research or LISTEN to their constituents concerns about this matter.
That brings up another topic. I will listen to my constituents concerns. I will bring them up at a council meeting. If you bring something to me, that I do not know about, I will do my research, and ask for others help in joining me to get me up to date with it. I will vote for what is right. I will fight for my constituents and businesses. That opens up another topic.
I will fight for the businesses and citizens. Another topic on my agenda is to waive the fee for Philbro to expand. Our current council wants to charge $2800 for a permit for them to expand. I do not think they understand the fact, that Philbro does not care, and will move if they do not allow them to expand. We need their tax revenue. Does our current council care? Absolutely not. If it does not help us short term, they are against it. I am not like that. I have sat down and thought over this for about 4 weeks now. If we waive the $2800 fee that the city wants, we will loose that short term, yes. But it will double the revenue in just 2 short years of them expanding. They would bring roughly a dozen jobs into town with this expansion. We would be absurd not to allow them to expand.
Another topic I would like to bring up is that we gave our only opportunity of expansion to a gravel pit. Why was this not given out to the public sooner? Why didn't the public have a say in it? BECAUSE WE HAVE A CITY COUNCIL THAT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT TRANSPARENCY, OR PUBLIC INPUT! Plain and simple. They do not communicate anything. Our mayor puts out a news letter every month, on topics only HE WANTS to put in there. Only what HE wants to be heard.
I would also like to bring it up to put limitations on various ordinances that are in effect right now. Our ordinance books are overflowing with frivolous topics that date back to the 1900's. I think these need to be updated.
With that, I would like to encourage you to go out and let your voices be heard on April 6th. If you want someone who will make sure your voices are heard, VOTE FOR ME! I will exhaust every option I have to make your voices be heard. I would love to sit down and talk with you guys about anything you feel concerned about in the city!
Thanks for all your support,
William Ohlmann
Hello. There are just over 3 weeks until the election. As many of you may have heard my platform, there is two things I would like to stress to you guys. Your voices are not being heard by the current council. It has been brought to my attention that some people have tried to talk to their alderman, and the alderman just blows the topic off. I WILL NOT DO THAT! If you bring something to my attention, I am going to bring it EVERYONES attention at a meeting. If it is something that needs voted on, I will ask for a vote. If it is something that requires further research and discovery, I WILL DO THAT! I will put my time into this city. I will fight for the best of everything.
I would like to stress that the spraying for mosquitos will cease if I have my way on the city. I have talked to about 30 people since I brought this topic up and for the majority of them, they agree with me.
I would also like to bring it to your attention, that the old Western Yeast Company would like to expand and bring more jobs into town. The current leadership we have in this city, said they could expand for an outrageous amount of money. My first motion would be to waive the fees associated with the expansion, and allow them to expand. Now, this may seem like we will loose money, but I can guarantee that we will not. We WILL loose money in the short term, but in the long term it will allow another business to remain in the community, and bring more jobs along with it. The tax revenue we will receive from the business, will pay for itself in roughly 2 years. If we do not allow this business to expand, they will just pack up and move. What good will that do the city? Absolutely nothing. We will loose the tax revenue we get off of the business now. It is clear that the current leadership DOES NOT CARE WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CITY UNLESS IT DEALS WITH THEM GETTING MONEY! I am not like that. If it will better us short term or long term, I will vote on it.
Please go out and vote on April 6th, and vote for me. I will better this community. I will put the time and effort in the city. See you soon.
Greetings, I am running to represent you in Ward 3. It is time that campaigns will begin to pick up speed. If you have not seen, I have been putting signs up around town. If you want one, do not hesitate to ask. There is a lot for me to cover since my last update. So, here we go.
There was a lengthy debate at the last council meeting regarding video gaming ordinances. At this time, the current ordinance is that no more than 40 percent of a businesses revenue can come from video gaming. This current ordinance is to restrict "gaming parlors" from being able to operate. The current council suggested that the City Attorney re-draft the ordinance that would set the revenue limit to 60%. In a way, I think that the city has screwed up the video gaming ordinances enough in the last 10 years, they should change it now and not alter it again. Its going to allow all the businesses, that meets the requirements now, to continue to meet the new requirements. Just like everything, it has pro's and con's to doing so. Just like all the decisions, this one is the same.
Another topic, I have touched on before is the spraying of mosquitos. I spoke with 15-20 people in the past 2 weeks, as weather changes, and summer is coming. Out of those 15-20 people I have spoke with, all of them are against the spraying of mosquitos. If I am elected Alderman for Ward 3, it is on my agenda to end the spraying of mosquitos. It is dangerous to continue to spray, but yet the current council is blind to this information. They continue to say the chemical is "SAFE". Are they crazy?
I have spoken to a few people about businesses. We have numerous empty businesses sitting around town, empty. An empty business is no good for the city. It does not draw revenue, it does not create jobs, it does nothing. With that being said, I believe we should wave the fees associated for the businesses to move into town. In the short term, it seems we may loose money, BUT WE WON'T. We will loose the fees, but with the jobs and taxes that these businesses will bring, will pay itself off in less than 3 to 5 years. Research shows this. Why is our current council out for the money? Why is our current council so blind to the facts that if the businesses do not get their way, they just leave. Its obvious about that. There has been multiple businesses that have closed because the city wanted to much out of them, so they pack up, and skip town.
My agenda is starting to become more and more clear. I am for bringing more people, businesses, and opportunities to this town than my opponents. The current council is greedy. They do not care what happens, as long as it betters them. I will fight for what is right. That does not include just my ward. I will fight for what I feel is best, in ALL wards. I will fight to better this community. The way this community is going right now, we are set up for failure. We are running people out of the community. We gave up on expansion to the west, and gave it to a gravel pit. I will explain more on that.
In January, we conceded to the fight that has been a decade long. WE CONCEDED OUR ONLY OPPORTUNITY OF EXPANSION TO A GRAVEL PIT! What were they thinking? We cannot expand to the south because of Three Sisters Park. We are blocked to the east by the river. It would be hard to expand north because of the viaduct. Yet our current government was to shy to fight. It wasn't our whole council that wanted to concede, matter of fact, there was a majority of them that said not to concede. But yet, we concede.
So with all that being said, please go out and vote on April 6th, and vote for me. I will make sure your voices are heard. That is something this current council does not do. There are a few on there that do, but a majority that do not. Once again, I will fight for the best. If something is going to be detrimental to our city, I will voice my opinion and go against it. I am not shy to argue about what is not right. Some of our current council buckles under pressure. That will not happen with me.
I hope to see you out and about around town, and look forward to talking to you. Please comment on this post if you would like a yard sign!
Greetings, I am running to represent you in Ward 3 on Chillicothe's City Council. I am passionate about our community and want to do my part to keep Chillicothe great. We will do that by running a transparent, efficient government, Investing in our public spaces, and In promoting balanced developement. These are just a few topics off the list of what I would like to see in the City. Most importantly, I will promise to work tirelessly to represent you, THE CITIZENS AND BUSINESSES. Thank you all for your support.
I have yard signs made up. If you would like a yard sign to display, please comment on this status and I will deliver them to you!
Thanks
William Ohlmann
As Alderman of Ward 3, I will support the Citizens of Chillicothe. Dollar General is looking to expand with a new location in Rome, just about 1 mile to the south of town. If Dollar General expands with the new location, our tax revenue is going to drop. I understand that Dollar General probably did a Market Analysis and it shows that the business would be sufficient there, but as a city, it is not going to do us well. The council adopted a resolution about this expansion. I agree with the council on this matter. I am a firm believer that if revenue drops, so does budgets. If budgets drop, cuts are going to have to happen, and none of us wants that. As I am running for Alderman of Ward 3, I would like all my constituents to message this page with there concerns of what is going on with, and within this city. I would like to know your thoughts, and what you would like to see with the city in the next 4 years.
My votes on the council, if elected will be for what is right. I will not just follow suit with all of the other Alderman's votes. IF I feel that something should or shouldn't be done, I will voice my opinion and fight for what I feel is right. How many of our Alderman are out on a daily basis to talk and listen to our citizens concerns? Not many. How many Alderman are willing to listen to their constituents? Not many. How many of our current council members enjoy the constituents opinions? Not many!
I will gladly listen and talk at anytime, day or night. I do not care if our opinions do not match with each other. If I have a topic that you do not agree with, we can discuss it. Some of the current council does not like that. They get offensive if they are challenged to their opinions. That is not how Politics work. I hate to break that to them. Everyone's opinions will not match, at any time. I enjoy talking and discussing with people. That is what makes Aldermen be successful, and in return, makes the city successful.
IN REGARDS TO THE COUNCIL MEETING:
The City of Chillicothe voted tonight to dismiss ordinance 62-10 titled "Violation of Governors Orders." That is the ordinance that our current council voted to approve in April. The council unanimously voted to dismiss this ordinance. They also voted to drop the citations issued in November/December to the businesses, Track Inn and Bananas. I support this measure 100%. I will stand behind my saying as I have said before. Without SMALL BUSINESSES and CITIZENS, A CITY WOULD NOT BE A CITY! Plain and Simple. There is several other goals I would like to achieve, if I am elected for Alderman.
One of those goals is to end the spraying of mosquitos. The chemicals they use to spray for mosquitos are killing our pollinators. Studies have confirmed that this chemical is harmful. I know, from first hand experience, that if I am outside, and they spray for mosquitos, I have a difficult time breathing. Imagine how your elderly neighbor, or family member feels after they do it. Yet, our current council does not care! This fact was brought up in 2018, and the council still allows them to spray for mosquitos, calling it "Safe." How can this chemical be called "safe" when it is harming us, and our environment? If I am elected as Alderman, I will bring it up to the council to consider ending the spraying for mosquitos.
Another goal I would like to achieve as Alderman, is to get more businesses in the city. I went around tonight, and counted around the city, how many empty buildings are around. There is a lot. It upsets me to see buildings sit empty. If the city would give perks to a person interested in opening up a business, maybe that would urge businesses to come here.
One last thing, before I sign off tonight. I will fight for what is right. The citizens voices need to be heard. I do not care if you come to me and talk! I want citizens to give advice, and what they want to see in the City. I do not understand why, when it comes to public comments during meetings, our current city council says if things get repetitive, they will just close public comments. How can they do that. If people address the council, about issues, there will be repetitive statements brought up. I am sorry. It is the way it is.
I am telling all my supporters, right now, if I am elected as Alderman, you can talk to me whenever you want. I do not care if you are repetitive in what you say! It is my duty to listen to my constituents, and I will do exactly that.
IN REGARDS TO TUESDAY PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING ABOUT SMALL BUSINESSES:
In April, the city council as a whole, voted to adopt an ordinance titled Violation of Governors Orders. Ordinance #62-10. The businesses in question, track inn and bananas violated the Governors orders by continuing to stay open for indoor dining when the Governor stated to cease indoor dining. In that ordinance there is steps to which the police will handle the complaint. The first step is, they come to the business and issue a city ordinance violation. That basically says they have to go to court and appear infront of a judge. Then, the business can either plea guilty or not guilty. If they plea guilty, theyre fined up to $750 for every day they are in violation. If they plea not guilty, it goes to trial.
The second time a complaint is turned into the police department, an officer goes to the business, writes them yet another ordinance ticket, but this time refers it to the health department for violation of orders. The health department will come out and give the business 24 hours to cease and desist operations of indoor dining. If the business yet again does not give compliance to the executive order, it is referred to the states attorney, who will then decide to file charges or not to file charges.
The meeting Tuesday was to make a decision and to update how the city was going to handle these issues. There is a meeting on Monday. It is a council as a whole voting on to either uphold the ordinance #62-10 or to drop that ordinance. If they uphold the ordinance, the businesses will have to still appear in court and follow that process. If the council votes Monday to drop that ordinance, there is nothing the city can do if ANY business opens up against the Governors orders. That doesnt mean the health department cannot do anything to the business, but it takes the city of Chillicothe out of the equation on that part. If the city votes to drop the ordinances, it will then vote to drop the citations that are written under that ordinance. If they drop it on Monday, more than likely they will drop the citations also. Meaning that track inn and bananas will not have to go through the court process.
I am irritated beyond doubts that this city council currently has more problems to deal with than the businesses staying open, yet they pick the small businesses to punish. What benefit would the city have of taking them to court and fining them $750 a day for every day they are in violation? What benefit does the city have, if they were to close the businesses? ABSOLUTELY NONE! There is no benefits to the long term decisions this council is taking. All because a couple of arrogant people who are on a power trip, wants to show their authority. Everyone I spoke with is against this. They are against what the city is doing not only to the small businesses, but to the public in general.
Another one of my goals as Alderman is to end the spraying for mosquitos and burning of yard waste. Not only is it detrimental to our health, but it is also detrimental to our environment and eco-system. It is proven in facts that the chemicals they are using for the mosquitos, is killing not only the mosquitos, but killing our pollinators. Without our pollinators, our eco-system will collapse. I have talked with several people on the issue of burning, and most are against it. Why is our city council so blind to the fact that it is harming us? Not only is it harming us, but it is harming our environment. Not to mention, when people are burning yard waste, I have seen cabinets, tires, beds, recliners, all being burned. That is illegal according to the EPA. So why isn't the city enforcing that?
There is a council meeting tomorrow, January 11th, 2021 at 7 PM. The link, meeting ID, and passcode is below. I would love to see some of you join me for it.

Just another quick invitation to join the meeting for the current council, trying to close down people's lively-hood, just because a few hypocrites are on a power trip and feel it necessary to ruin lives.

As Alderman of Ward 3, I will fight for the businesses. That means ALL businesses, just not the ones in my ward. It takes businesses, and citizens to make a town. Without businesses, a town would be empty besides for citizens. In light of current events, the city council decided to bring it up at a special meeting, on Tuesday, January 5th, to try and attempt to close down two of our small businesses. I do not think this is fair. In fact, It rages me that the hypocrites are trying to do it. I am sure if it was their business and they were put into this struggle, of to stay open, or close and loose the business, they would choose the first of the two. I understand their way of having to see it, but maybe we have to turn a blind eye to these businesses. These business owners have sunk their lively-hoods and most of what they earned in a lifetime into these businesses. If they are shut down, they will have to permanently close their businesses. They will loose everything they own, because a few of the current council members are against them staying open. Its disgusting that a few of these council members think this way.
I personally invite you to attend the meeting with me. Link is posted below.

As Alderman of Ward 3, I will fight for the citizens and businesses of Chillicothe. Without a well ran government, our citys structure will not last. If we keep pushing businesses to close and risk not reopening, sooner or later, we will not have anything for the citizens to go do. Its a downhill spiral when the city does this. Businesses close, citizens leave. Citizens leave, tax revenue drops. Tax revenue drops, city cuts budgets. Sooner or later, the city will no longer be a city if they keep it up. Small businesses is what makes a community. The big corporations that have millions of dollars in profit a month doesn't hurt as bad when the city does something. Its the small businesses that struggle when it happens.
