It has been a very busy few months in both service work and our restoration program, with E-Types in fabrication, paint, trim and mechanical rebuild. The Heynes team has been flat out on all aspects. However with cars coming close to completion, we are very exited to say we have our new Heynes restoration on site. A 1958 XK150 3.4 S which we believe to be a two owner car which is rather special. To be tasked with restoring this car to concours condition with the view that the car will then be driven at major events is very satisfying. Very honoured to bring this girl back to life.

🫳🎤 008 looking so good. Everything is about detail, even the bits you don't see.

We were so lucky to be invited to pop down to the Jaguar day at the , where I was invited to talk about Jaguar history alongside the very lovely on the main stage. We also decided last minute to take our 1961 m, one owner from 1961-2019 E-Type preservation car. It was the first time the car has been seen in public in the UK since 1961. The car is truly a one off, and totally defines the category of preservation. We are so proud to be awarded and recognised, and we truly believe in preservation as it’s our only true link to the past and is the only reference point we have - in this case, November 1961. Thank you so much to everyone involved, and lovely to see you all.

Our new build workshop is now in full swing, with our 1962 Semi Lightweight build, XK150 3.8S FHC, our 1961 builds No 113, No 039 and finally our No 037 V12 Commemorative all on the go.
Oh, and this very charming Jaguar Reborn which will shortly be available for sale as a Heynes Approved E-Type. The next chapter of William Heynes Ltd is getting closer!

Yesterday was one of those last minute days were you just say “yes, see you there”. I had the honour of taking 850022 to to be part of the custodians team for the grand reveal showing 022 to the wife Jean, and daughter Vicki of the original owner. It was hugely emotional and one of those moments which remind you why we all put the late night shifts in. Importantly 022 had 015 FHC - another Heynes prepped car - to keep her company in the paddock, and both cars were exercised around the old airfield. In short 022 is without doubt the best preservation OBL I have driven. Running original 60’s Dunlop Cross Plys, original new old stock suspension bushes and original 1961 Girling dampers and springs - the list can go on. The result moved me to tears whilst the very talented driver and custodian drove the car with haste around Goodwood with the daffodils and fresh cut grass in the air. Not a bad Thursday at all.

We are now in March 2024. Crikey bobs, how on earth did that happen?! It’s that time of the year when the workshop’s big winter restoration projects align with a busy workshop of service work and heavy and light maintenance work for our Heynes Jagaur community. Our new workshop build space is now very, very full and in full swing, with some our best work to date taking place and pushing the boundaries on rebuild, preservation and design. We thought you would appreciate some pictures from ’s recent visit.

Thanks to the milder weather, the lack of salt has meant that we can get back to road testing cars that are almost ready to leave the workshop. Road testing is such an important part of the process, testing on different types of roads, different speeds, and with and without passengers, which can make "working" on a Saturday rather enjoyable. This wonderful XK120 will soon be back with its young custodian, Max, after having a huge amount of work carried out on electrics, steering, suspension and many other areas of the car.

Fresh out of fabrication we present to you ✨Chassis 073 ✨. This is a project which we are incredibly proud of. We have pushed our boundaries to create a body shell to this level of workmanship that forms the foundation of our Heynes Edition cars. This body shell took over 1,000 hours making sure that Chassis 073’s original and early features were preserved. We are incredibly proud to show a car without any filler work or paint at this level of quality. What do you think?

9pm Friday night, fin. A mega busy week getting back into the swing of things but the team have nailed it this week. Looking forward to the weekend where we're heading to the Sunday Scramble in our very own MkVII Jaguar. Are you going? 👇

2024 has welcomed us with our very shiny new clean build workshop! This unit will be purely for our builds that have just come back from paint, ready to begin reassembly, while our first workshop next door will continue to be used for disassembly and servicing. Benches and racking will soon fill the space and make the place feel a bit more like home, but we’re so excited to get going. Let’s get some cars built!

Photos from William Heynes Ltd's post 15/12/2023

We are very excited to be in our final stages of the fabrication of 073, with a few bits of snagging remaining such as the headlight apertures. This body shell is one of the best shell la I’ve ever seen, with a bare minimum amount of lead incorporated. This is the standard for all of our Heynes builds when they go through fabrication. Removing lead where we can and gaining the same result with fabrication skill is better for the car and the environment.

29/11/2023

Arguably the best E-Type preservation/restoration Jaguar that has been built in the last few years. 850022 is just stunning in every way, with attention to detail like no other early OBL RHD OTS I have seen. It was a huge privilege to be a part of the restoration and to be trusted as a company to be a part of its next chapter.

At the beginning of this week, we headed to the beautiful city of Zurich to meet a new customer and sign on his 1961 Flat Floor E-Type into our full restoration programme. The car has been restored previously in its life, but luckily the full matching numbers as well as a huge amount of originality are still with the car, such as its complete original spot welded bonnet and its original outer sills, both of which are incredibly rare to find in a car which is still usable. We’re very excited to get started on this latest project over the next couple of weeks.

Stuffed workshop this week, pushing hard to clear some space for our long term projects that are returning from paint very shortly.

As normal, time flies. We're now in November! This month we've got chassis 35 which is now looking very, very sharp at one of our fabricators, 's Semi Lightweight in the closing stages of paint in a gorgeous Ecurie Ecosse blue, chassis 73 in the very final stages of a long stint in fabrication at another one of our trusted fabricators and finally, our Commemorative V12 in the middle of paint prep where detail is everything. We also have a handful of other significant cars in fabrication build which we are equally excited about. The first car that will be back home in the workshop for its mechanical rebuild will be the Semi Lightweight which we are so looking forward to getting back together for its very patient custodian..!

Goodwood Revival 2023 was one of my greatest positive life lessons I have ever had. A lifetime’s ambition spun in to a fine balance of good and bad luck over 4 days. Goodwood madness showed us how incredibly lucky I am to have such truly amazing people around me. We spun a total disaster with engine failure on Thursday afternoon into a huge success. The family are the definition of good samaritans, driving all the way from Wales with a spare engine and inlet to then stay with us until 3am Friday morning making sure we were running on 6. I can’t express my gratitude to you all. I love you all deeply. I then had two days of getting the car running smoothly on a brand new set of carbs and a very, very poorly water pump, which was held together with plastic metal from my dear friends Ben and Andy from thank you both so so very much for the support as always. was my knight on the Friday afternoon and Saturday. My team and I were many hours without sleep and Karim took me aside and said “mate it’s ok, we have got this”. Karim you are wonderful. Then .morton.108 came to help in the Saturday evening and he was just incredible. With us both working together and Sam’s incredible ability to think outside of the box we got the MK1 absolutely sorted whilst still using bits of tents to make it work. We successfully made it through the St Mary’s on the Sunday with the wonderful and taking the helm for the weekend. What we experienced was how truly amazing the car community is. I can not express my gratitude enough to everyone who helped us and wished us well. Everyone was so incredibly kind and generous, it’s hard for me to tell you how emotional my team and I were. It was a life changing perspective. Would I do it all over again? YES I would. Lessons learnt: never never doubt your ability, nor the power of friendships. The ability of people wanting success for others has only enhanced my understanding of how special the classic car world is,and importantly the beautiful people in it. .fischer.188

If you were watching our stories yesterday, you will have seen us testing 's Mk1 at Goodwood in preparation for next week's . We're very excited for it! In the meantime, we have the rest of the restorations going on, including chassis 073 which is getting very close to final fit in fabrication. We're exceptionally happy with those curves and light lines, especially as this is before any lead has been applied. Detail is everything.

14/08/2023

Good morning from the William Heynes workshop! This week we're prepping the Mk1 race car for the , finishing off an engine rebuild on a recreation C-Type and processing our 3 tier 1 restoration cars through paint, hopefully getting them back to the workshop for build shortly. Like the sound of this kind of week more than your week? We're hiring technicians. Drop us a DM or email [email protected] as we would love to hear from you.

12/08/2023

We are incredibly excited to finally get this Semi Lightweight ex-Win Percy car into paint, with 's own picking our own variation of Ecurie Ecosse blue. This is a huge milestone for the project and detail is absolutely everything. It's a complicated paint process due to the outer wings being aluminium and riveted later in the paint procedure, however good things come to those who wait (and wait, and wait...!) The end product will be worth the wait!

It was such a pleasure to deliver this XK120 back to its owner last week, who inherited the car from his late grandfather. We carried out a full ENV axel rebuild including crown wheel and pinion, a complete brake overhaul throughout, and much, much more. It's also fantastic to have a younger owner under 30 years old. What colour and trim would you have your own XK120?

Photos from William Heynes Ltd's post 08/07/2023

We are now becoming very close to completing the body in white stage of our Semi Lightweight build. The car initially came in with both B post to sill areas suffering from rot but once the car was deconstructed and soda blasted it was clear to see the car had had a spirited life where the previous fabrication work resembled a crisp packet. Work carried out has been new windscreen pillars, new bulkhead top scuttle, new doors, new rear bulkhead, new B posts, new boot floor, rear wings, and much, much more. It is an incredible build, and it is truly going to be a one of a kind motorcar with all the benefits of a modern GT such as air conditioning. Thank you to our patient customers who let us do what we do best.

09/06/2023

One the best parts of the job is having to test drive the vehicles and it's even more fun in summer! Not a bad way to end the long week.

04/05/2023

Good morning. We have been quiet as we have been busy…! This wonderful Eagle has just completed its yearly service and is ready for its custodian to stretch its legs to Portugal this afternoon. It is with out doubt one of the best cars I have driven for long time, truly superb in every detail. We have had a 3.8 MK2 return back to it owner yesterday after a major service and brakes. This week we also delivered E-Type No 015 back to owner after a clean and new ignition. The restorations are ticking along nicely too! We’re now looking forward to the warmer, longer days for our customers to enjoy their wonderful vehicles.

On Saturday I married my best friend and the love of my life , she is the true definition of perfection and she has made me happy beyond words can describe. The wedding naturally was very car orientated, Amy and I drove away in the Heynes family 1962 factory works E-Type 5544VC - the same car my father was driven to school in and has been the family go to E-Type ever since. We also had our 1953 Mk7 which is just sublime, Teddy the MGB GT and the trusty Defender TD5. I can’t thank you all enough for being so overwhelmingly kind and loving to Amy and I on our big day and the lead up to it. We had the best day of our lives and I am the luckiest and happiest man in the world. Amy and I are now in New York on our honeymoon, and just about to start our epic road trip of 2,500 miles which is mega exciting. The workshop is fully operational and in the hands of our wonderful team so if you have any questions or inquiries please contact them via email [email protected] or via the office 01789 507611. I promise this is the end of my wedding spam, but I can’t speak for Amy! I am now going to do what all Brits do and find NY bagel and sh*t Starbucks coffee! See you in a bit x

03/04/2023

I have totally fallen in love with our 1953 MK7, it was perfect car to drive to the church with my ushers on mine and ’s wedding! I adore it, mainly because it’s just such a good motorcar. Its presence is dramatic, its road handling is astonishingly good. Total grace, pace and space. If you have not got a Mk7 you don’t know what you are missing. Best car purchase to date. Make Jagaur MK7s great again!

27/01/2023

We are so excited about being involved with for this coming season. It’s going to a huge amount of fun all round, race preparing there MK1. It’s also been a end to another very busy week at William Heynes Ltd. with two engines being completed and three Series 1 restorations coming together nicely with their front engine frame rebuilds and auxiliaries. Next week we are as busy as ever with two engine fitments and a full house of cars which need our attention. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

13/01/2023

Another busy end of week at WH. One completed commemorative V12 engine rebuild, reinstated a rebuilt XK 4.2 back into a very loved E-Type, full suspension strip on one of our new guests - a 1962 S1 roadster project - rebuild of a set of Austin Healey 3000 SU carburettors and fitted to the car (yes l, we know it’s not an E-Type... ) and removed the cylinder head and striped from our C-Type recreation. We also delivered a very early OBL back to its custodian and collected another very early E-Type for a little bit of a spring fettle. As mentioned, a busy week! If we told you all of everything we are up to, we would run out of words. Lots going on. Amy and I are away in the Lake District today and for the weekend, if you would like to chat to workshop team, please contact the William Heynes office and you will be in very good hands.

The new work year has started, Lottie the workshop dog was SO excited to see everybody back in the workshop this morning. They year starts off with a rather lovely C-Type recreation, which we are about to carry out an engine rebuild on. A service on a delightful S1 4.2, our 10 + restorations, other recommissioning work and other exciting projects we have to keep secret for a little while longer… stay tuned in. It’s fair to say that we have hit the ground running.

29/12/2022

Already itching to get back to work. This car has been in fabrication for the last few months and is almost ready to head into paint!

24/12/2022

We are incredibly honoured announce that we will be running this well known and very well developed Jagaur MK 1 for next year’s racing season on behalf of the new owners . We took the opportunity to hand over the MK1 to its new custodians at our dear friend ’s club barn. Dreams do come true and what a wonderful way to end the year on a high. Thank you to everyone involved and to everyone who has supported us over this year, and we wish you all a very merry Christmas from the William Heynes team.
