The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the U.S. European Command (EUCOM), U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) & U.S. Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.

SFC Shelby Kelley, an Advisor assigned to 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade, serves as the Team Sergeant for Team 2231.
Her Military Occupational Specialty is 31B in the United States Army Military Police Corps.

SFC Kelley a shining example of our U.S. Army NCO Corp, and a phenomenal instructor who is utilizing her expertise and experience to mentor and develop our Partners in Leadership Development.

On this anniversary of Operation Enduring Freedom, we pause to remember the heroism of the 10th Mountain Division, the first task force-capable command with operational forces deployed in response to the atrocities of September 11.

🗓 Following those dark days, President George W. Bush inspired a nation with words of unity and resolve: “Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.”

🏔 With these powerful words, the 10th Mountain Division rose to the occasion. They swiftly established Combined Joint Task Force Mountain in October 2001, demonstrating to the world the unwavering strength and resilience of the American people.

💪 Their exceptional courage and dedication were foundational, setting the stage for the XVIII Airborne Corps to deploy forces and establish Combined Joint Task Force 180 in May of 2002.

Today, we honor and celebrate the undaunted bravery of the 10th Mountain Division and every soul who stood tall in Operation Enduring Freedom. Your resilience, your courage, and your unwavering commitment echo the enduring strength of America.

We cannot accomplish our mission without our U.S. Army National Guard. Great evening breaking bread with the Teams here in Ghana. SITREPs are good, but being able to get on the ground is priceless. U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) the Advisors from 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade are getting it done!

Humbled to know, the Advisors from the 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade currently building partnerships here in Tunisia, were instrumental in planning, resourcing and executing this LFX with our sister services AND our Tunisian partners.

This morning I was able to visit the North African American Cemetery in Tunisia,leading up to . Such a beautiful place, and so humbled to spend time on this hollowed ground. Looking forward to coming back in a couple days to celebrate the lives of so many that made the ultimate sacrifice in a foreign land for the betterment of the world.

Great time today with MAT 2231. Woke up early and headed out to walk up Mount Kenya, some of it. Started at about 10,000ft and finished at about 12,525ft. Amazing experience and phenomenal Team Building event.

Although they are not members of 2nd Battalion, they are members of the Force Package currently deployed in support of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa and 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade. I had the privilege to recognize the achievements of LAC 2610, Logistic Advisor Company, serving here in Senegal. They are proudly representing 6th BN 2SFAB and the U.S. Army!

What our Advisors assigned to the 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade do is important. I’m getting a chance to see first hand the relationships they are building with their Partners here in Morocco. SGT(P) Emily Dray is a perfect example. From Atlanta, TX, who would have thought she would be inspiring and teaching members of a foreign military. While using her experience and skills as a Mechanical Advisor, she is doing just that! Proud of her and the remaining members of TM 2211.
