I learned some mind blowing news about oxalates today. There was a study in 1939 on spinach and oxalates. They fed rats their normal diet and just added spinach.
Spinach changed the growth of these rats so they couldn't even grow to half their ordinary size. They couldn't reproduce. There bones were bad, and so were their teeth. A high percentage of deaths occurred with rats fed spinach between 21 and 90 days.
WTF?? POPEYE!? I guess Popeye came out in 1929, so I can't blame the creators for this character promoting spinach to children. However, after 1939, when this study came out, why was Popeye still allowed to air? I remember watching the movie when I was very little in 1980.
My mom fed us spinach weekly for several years. In my 20's I started eating spinach salads weekly. Then I started buying spinach and cooking it at home and making salads. By 30 I was eating it daily. At age 41, after years of fertility challenges, I fed spinach to my baby, as one of her first foods, creating her skin problems.
The first time I heard spinach may be problematic, age 46, when my daughter was 5. It was 2022. 83 years after this study came out.
Yet most people today still think spinach is the healthiest food you can eat.

A local hospital's radio ad claimed that a prominent health insurance company pays them 25% less for the same services as larger institutions.
Why does this sound like a monopoly? If true, the insurer is playing games with people's health. Shocking!

In 1961, after accepting a large donation from P&G (makers of Crisco), the American Heart Association started telling everyone to avoid saturated fat and red meat.
