Who am I?
To my new friends who have just started following me or even the ones who have been with me on my Rotary journey the whole time, you're probably wondering just who am I?
Well my name is Evan Burrell and I'm a member of the Rotary Club of Turramurra in D9685, Sydney, Australia.
I've been actively involved in Rotary for 23 years now, first joining Rotaract in June 1999.
In my non Rotary career, I'm a professional bus driver who drives for the city. I'm also an accomplished public speaker, promotional marketer & social media specialist and I regularly provide my thoughts, ideas and graphics about Rotary using social media in a fun and creative way.
You may have met me or seen me walking around in my outlandish Rotary suit taking plenty of “Service Above
Selfies” at a Rotary convention or perhaps you know of me as the Rotary Superhero.
I'm here to prove that Rotary isn’t all business! My message is “Let’s have fun in Rotary” and it’s with this message that has me passionately promoting
Rotary’s story via social media.
One of my great skills is that I use social media to show that Rotarians are not only making a positive difference in the world, but we are having fun doing it!
For well over a decade I've been presenting Rotary in a lighter more personally engaging way, showing the more fun and humorous side to our organisation. I find my personal approach has grabbed people’s attention, member and non-member alike.
To me this makes the idea of Rotary more relatable, especially to new generations, who may feel disconnected with some of the formalities of Rotary but are avid users of social media and want to do good in the world.
I must stress this point as I get asked a lot , I'm not actually a paid employee of Rotary International, everything I do is voluntary.
I have served in many Rotary roles in the club, district and on an international level. Interestingly enough I've never been a district public image chair nor have I been an Assistant Governor or even a District Governor!
What I am though is a change maker and I'm passionate about making a positive change for the good of Rotary.
Feel free to comment or send me a PM if you wish to know more about me or potentially have me as a speaker.
With Thanks Evan Burrell
