It’s not all about implants! This was a young patient, so we wanted to keep the natural teeth for as long as possible. With a large OVD increase and some soft/hard tissue surgery it was possible to restore this patient to a shortened dental arch. Some implant units might come in handy in at the back in future, but he’s in a better place for now. Photos at fit, some settling of the gingival condition still required.

Full arch options- Six upper and six lower implants holding fixed zirconia bridgework- to ensure accurate implant positions I used Chrome guides from .3d who also made the lovely provisional and final bridges.

Having been extremely busy with work I have neglected to post on Instagram for quite some time, so I have resolved to post some cases to depict routine treatments I encounter in daily practice. In this case I am replacing teeth lost to periodontal disease, with Straumann bone level implants- we are accepting a shortened dental arch to keep this patient out of a denture, and avoid the need for lateral window sinus surgery. This multidisciplinary restorative case was carried out via a completely digital workflow. I completed soft tissue surgery, a long provisonal phase in custom temporary restorations at an increased OVD, and placement of implants, before the final restorations which are shown in this photo. Full arch bridgework on five implants. I extracted the remaining teeth and placed the implants and a bridge on the same day. Thank you for the excellent support from .3d . This picture shows the beautiful final zirconia bridge, it was a perfect passive fit, and the patient is delighted.

Waiting on results never gets any easier… Having worked in the field of implant dentistry for several years, this year I sat the examinations for the Diploma in Implant Dentistry, at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. As anyone who has studied for post graduate qualifications can attest, finding time and energy to study around full time work and busy family life is very difficult! My study culminated in a gruelling week of examinations in September, and I’m delighted to have learned this week that I passed all examinations and now hold the Royal College Diploma. Onwards and upwards!

Initial whitening with followed by placement of digitally waxed up, minimal prep temporaries to allow gum conditioning, and to test drive the aesthetics. Then, the final veneers were cemented using strict bonding protocols as taught by Dr Tidu Mankoo. Thanks to Neil for the superb lab work. The patient is very pleased, as am I.
