I’ve been getting lots of questions about my glass making process, so I’ve decided to do a mini series of videos!
First things first, is making your pattern! I make mine in Procreate on my IPad. Next is printing it out, cutting it out, and gluing it on the glass! I use just a normal Elmer’s glue stick hahaha.
So the next step is cutting! This is probably my favorite step, solely for the sounds ! When cutting glass, you use a glass cutter, which is the pen looking tool. Despite the name, it actually doesn’t “cut” the glass. All it does is make a score line, and then I go in and either break it by hand or use grozing pliers or running pliers. Grozing pliers are great for curve breaks and small breaks I can’t make with my hands or running pliers. Running pliers are best for doing straight breaks.
Because the glass cutter only scores the glass, it is super easy to mess up and accidentally break a part you didn’t want broken. It takes a lot of practice and patience when working with glass!
The video below shows a little bit of my cutting process. The next step would be grinding the glass! There’s a video to come with that!
