Attention ❗️

Everyone wants to steal one thing from you and it’s attention.

If you want to keep your creativity flowing, you have to focus on the right things.

It’s also important to sometimes say no and make a difficult choice. At the same time you might be doing something entirely new.

All about staying creative in your environment and changing your perspective, Austin Kleon’s “Keep Going” will motivate you to keep on trying and paying attention to what is truly important.

Some things simply CAN be replaced

📱 ➡️ 📝

📍Often we find ourselves checking our phone even if there’s no reason to. It’s a habit that makes our brain less focused and potentially stifles our creativity.

📍I suggest you try this experiment. Do it for 1 week and then decide if it works for you.

📍What you need to prepare: a notebook 📔, a pen 🖊️, and your pocket. The notebook should be small, around the size of your phone.

📍 When you reach for your phone, take your little notebook instead and write down what you wanted to do there (scroll through instagram, watch youtube, etc). Write what comes to your mind.

📍Repeat this exercise any time you feel like going on your phone. Most important, be unapologetic about it.

WATCH OUT! 👀

Spring is here and it’s the perfect time to bloom with creativity. Sometimes the best ideas hide in plain sight, you only have to see them. Rob Walkers “The Art of Noticing” might inspire you to start looking at everything from a perspective of a creator and an idea-generator! 💡

This book will upset you.

In a very good way.

Have you ever had a dream to become a writer? Maybe a famous singer, an outstanding artist or a worldwide celebrity? As we grow up, such dreams might seem absurd, unachievable. We put them aside and often forget what we someday wanted to become. In reality some of our craziest ideas turn out to be possibilities. They test our potential and develop our minds as creatives, as individuals.

When you dream of something so big it’s scary. You need an instruction, a step-by-step guide on the process of accomplishing your goal. A book called “Bird By Bird” will quite literally give you the instructions on writing and life.

This book debunks many myths. It turns out that getting published won't turn your life upside down. And in order to reach this stage, you need to overcome yourself and your own doubts. You have to be ready to share and edit your work and take the criticism wisely. It’s important to remember - it will all be worth it.

Just as in life, it’s not about the result but about the journey. So I truly hope this book will provide you guidance and inspiration, no matter if you’re a writer or just curious about the craft of written word.

Don’t let go. 🫵

Last time we talked about unlocking your creativity using a journal.

After you’ve written down your experiences, and your little notebook (or a digital note-app) is full of notes…

Flip through your writings and sketches. Choose a favourite one. The one that speaks to you the most. Read through it and make edits if necessary.

Finding creativity in everything is easier than you think!

In this series of posts I want to share ways of turning your journal into art.

The best way to unlock your creative potential is to start making notes of everything you notice in your day-to-day life.

How did you feel when you woke up? What were you thinking while having your usual cup of coffee? What about a conversation you overheard on the bus to work? Do you remember what they were saying?

Now I want you to…

1. Write it down. As descriptive as possible. It doesn’t have to be perfect or coherent. It can be a mix of your thoughts, feelings, images. Take your journal everywhere, make notes and sketches.

Art is theft. - Pablo Picasso

What if I told you that nothing is original?

This striking statement begins Austin Kleon’s book called “Steal Like An Artist”.

But it doesn’t teach you to simply steal from others. It teaches to embrace influence, to be influenced without fear, and combine existing ideas to create something new. Adding your unique personal touch, of course.

Copying is a journey on which you discover your own voice. Doesn’t matter if you’re an artist, a writer or a photographer. It is not about plagiarism. You take your heroes’ work and mix it together. You study how their creative outputs are crafted. Then you find out how to create something of your own.

Austin Kleon, an artist and a writer, has a wide range of books for creative individuals and for those who want to bring creativity into their lives. “Steal Like an Artist” might just be your door opening up a whole new world of creativity right in front of you.
