I'm a nature lover, biologist, explorer and wildlife photographer who is lucky to be living in beautiful New Zealand. I have also lived in Holland, the Azores archipelago and briefly in South Africa. Wherever I go I love to discover and photograph the natural world around me. I have always appreciated nature and biology, and since a young age I have been taking photographs. These two interests dev

While in South Africa I fell in love with these charismatic little creatures. This African penguin is a juvenile and will hopefully live long and contribute to the population. Unfortunately the species is declining and an estimated 99% of their population has been lost over the last century. A very cool looking bird - this is a African Sacred ibis.

Brindle baby!
Brindle southern right whales have a rare pigmentation pattern which makes them almost completely white at birth. About 4% of calves are born with a 'brindle' pigmentation pattern so these whales are a rare sight.

The cape weaver is another species that is endemic to South Africa. This individual is perched on one of its masterpieces that they are well known for. Males build these sturdy nests in the hope they will be accepted by the females of the species.

The oceans cover over 70% of the surface and (including it's great depths) make up 97% of Earth's inhabitable space. These are just a few of the amazing creatures that live in it - taken during my time in South Africa with Dyer Island Cruises. My Story
I was born in Holland, but grew up and studied in New Zealand. I have also lived in the Azores archipelago, and briefly in South Africa. My travels have given me some wonderful opportunities to develop my passion for nature photography. Whales, dolphins, birds and butterflies are my favourite subjects.
